Great protective quality!
I ordered the small size, despite seeing reviews of how it was too small. Itโs actually perfect for what I was looking for! It fits 5 rolls of regular 35mm film. The padding is thick, so the quality is amazing.

It works!
Works well and reasonably heavy duty. This is a serious X-ray proof bag - if you're using it to get through airport screenings (it protects things really well), consider packing it on top of your luggage so TSA will immediately seen what's blocking their view. (I've had short delays when I had the (empty) bag rolled up in the bottom of my carry-on; the silhouette resulted in my having to wait for the agent to dig through the bag to pull it out and confirm nothing nefarious was going on.)

Works great.
Worked great. I forgot to take it out of my bag at TSA and my film got scanned ๐ but the filmed after being processed looked great. I literally stuffed 9 rolls of film in it.

Roomy and my son's film was just fine
I bought this for my son for a trip overseas. THE GOOD: The bag was spacious, easy to close, and easy for the TSA agent to open. It kept his film from being fogged by X-rays and organized his carry-on, too. Nothing like having film rolling around your backpack. THE BAD: A little pricey, but it is a Domke, made in the U.S.A. It will last forever- a good trade off. OVERALL: As with all Domke products, it's tough and functional. While it costs more than some others, it's made in the U.S.A. and will last.

Crazy Test: And it works!!!
I bought this Domke film protector bag for an unconventional purpose โ to store a collectable piece of Bauer Pottery from the 1930s, 40s, or 50s which has an unusually-high uranium content in its glaze (to give it the burnt orange color). Check out how much the Domke storage bag reduces the radiation levels when tested with a Geiger counter (see video). IT WORKS!!! And it is very well made as wellโฆ Background Story: I had helped my daughter do a science experiment a few years ago when she was in 7th grade. We tested typical household items โ such as bananas, iodized salt, and granite countertops โ for the small amount of radiation content that they may have. We also tested collectibles โ like โuranium glassโ (green glass) cups and plates, and Fiestaware and Bauer Pottery. The Fiestaware got a medium CPM (clicks per minute) radiation count, but the Bauer Pottery burnt orange glazed plate tested off the charts! From 1936 through 1943 it was typical for the โFiesta redโ Fiestaware (the burnt orange color) to have uranium in the glaze โ up to about 14% natural uranium content. That was later changed to โdepleted uraniumโ from 1959 to 1969 (still radioactive), and, according to our research, continued to be used in some of their products until 1973. Important: Any *modern* Fiestaware is perfectly safe and does not use uranium in the glaze. If you have vintage Fiestaware, typically only the โFiesta redโ (burn orange) glaze has higher levels of uranium (but itโs still just a fraction of the Bauer CPM levels we were getting). From what weโve read, the โFiesta yellowโ glaze *might* have a small amount of radioactive content as well, but in our tests of vintage Fiestaware, only the โredโ glaze seemed to have elevated levels. Lucyโs findings in her science report were that none of the household items (bananas, etc.) tested particularly higher than typical background radiation levels in our homes. Uranium glass got a small rise in levels; the โredโ Fiestaware slightly higher still, and Bauer was quite high as you can see in our video โ worryingly so! Our Conclusions: Any of the items we tested โ including the Bauer โ would be perfectly safe to have on a shelf or in a collectibles display if you were more than about 24 inches away. However, Lucy and I both concluded that we would not want this Bauer plate in a display cabinet, let alone eat off of it, or certainly not sleep with it under our pillow! ;^)) All of this is unrelated to the Domke storage products, but it should illustrate how the storage bag is likely to function for its intended purpose for protecting photographic film from X-rays!

Works great!
Works great. So far most airport staff are aware of this product and doesn't make a fuss when it goes through the scanner. Will request you to show them if they are required as per the airport's security requirement. If no - they'll just take a quick peek and move on.

Good protection
Works well. Iโve tested film in this via 3D scanner and no effect on Kodak Pro 100 or black and white ASA 100. Iโd keep ASA film rating below 400 The developer could see no signs of X Ray
