I sent this to my best friend that recently got a German Shepherd puppy, her first, meet Ryker. For references, Ryker is 14 weeks old in the video and weighs 37 pounds. He is approximately 18 inches at the shoulder. Without the extension legs, the Feeder is about 15 inches from the top of the splash guard to the floor. He is growing so quickly (obviously), and she told me that he was beginning to lie down to eat. This Neater Feeder came with the slow-feed bowl, but she said he was having a little trouble with it, although he already has a slow-feed bowl that he does fine with.She also noted that when attaching the extension legs, the feeder initially seemed slightly unstable. Upon closer inspection, she discovered letters on the extension legs that corresponded to specific positions on the fixed legs. Once aligned correctly, the feeder became stable. It is important to ensure that the extension legs are placed in the proper positions. The extension feature is highly beneficial as it allows the feeder to accommodate a growing puppy that will eventually become a larger dog. Additionally, the splash guard and drain holes function effectively, preventing any mess after feeding, which was an issue prior to obtaining the Neater Feeder.My older Neater Feeder still appears new after almost nine years, and the current model seems to be constructed just as well. These feeders are easy to clean, and I recommend emptying any splashed water that drains into the bottom at least once a day to prevent water stains from forming due to evaporation. After several months of my dogs avoiding this dish and the food in the thing, my GSD with straight-leg syndrome now uses it willingly everyday. It does not slide on the tile floor, even with him nosing food in the bowl. He isn’t bothered anymore by the sides that wrap around )I still think they need to make them not wrap so fat front, but it is not stopping him). The beagle doesn’t mind it either now. He will steal food out of it. He also drinks out of the bowl just fine. It does keep the water and food off the floor, so it does what I was hoping. It isn’t the prettiest thing (molded plastic) but it’s not the most ugly either. I am giving it 5-stars as my dogs use it just fine now, and also it does what it says. My steel bowls are fine, but you can use bowls you may have on had also - they fit standard sized stainless bowls. I am going to order another one, as the other bowls have to be on the carpet and it’s always a mess, but since my creatures no longer avoid using this, I’m pleased with it. It is a bit more expensive that I’d like but it saves me getting the carpet cleaned so much. My GSD can’t bend at the back legs, so he can only lower his head so much without laying down to get stuff near the ground and this works. He gets enough of a head down angle for eating to help prevent bloat- eating posture and not so much he can’t reach it without a handstand (which he’s done). I have to use the extended feet, but it stillIsn’t “tall”. It would be too short for a Dane size dog or my son’s wolfhound. I have a Large.—————I wanted to love this but two things: it’s. It tall enough. The bowl height really needed to be at least 2” taller, as this is the same height as my regular stand which is too low. The height of the backsplash isn’t as important as how high the bowls are off the ground. How low is my dog’s head leaning to eat basically.Second: my dogs hate it. They all refuse to use it. I’ve had it a month now, and no matter how hungry or thirsty they are they will not use it. They don’t like how far they have to reach to get to their bowls I guess. The cats don’t seem to care however - they stand on it and drink and eat the dog food 🙄I really wanted to love this, but as the dogs won’t use it, I wasted money.
