Has anyone had luck frothing cold whole milk? I don't want to use warm or hot milk in plastic. Any tips are appreciated! Thanks so much.

You can froth cold milk. If you heat it up in the microwave after frothing it will expand, so just leave room at the top of the mug.

How hot should the milk be before frothing?

It can be any temperature, but I usually hear the milk to the same temperature as I want to drink the coffee. If you froth it and then put the milk into the microwave to heat it, the foam will expand.. a lot... leaving the possibility of a mess in the microwave. I'm not sure what would happen if you heated it up on the stove after frothing.
