CD Review: The Police Dig A Groove Deeper than The Grand Canyon - The Police were an anomaly. Combining Art Band sensibility with Jazz & a Punk Reggae patina they created something that was none of the above. It also wasn't anything like Rock or Pop music at all. In short they were unique. As good as Sing's songs were it was the pulsing & shifting groove that got folk dancing and buying their albums. Inverting the power trio format by bringing the drums & bass to the fore & using Andy Summer's guitar to color the tracks they laid down a pulse that had never been done before or since. Is this their best album? Who cares! The remixed & expanded version gives us a better take on how both individually and as a group how talented they were. Spin it! Review: Will Buy Again! - The CD case was slightly cracked but that might have come from shipping stress. Other than that, the product looked fine and played great! For the price I got it for ($6) I couldn't be happier!

The Police rock
It's been a long time since I've heard this one. Had it on cassette eons ago but never got around to buying the CD until recently. It sounds as good as I remember, if not better.

The Police - More Political With Keyboards Added
This album saw The Police move in a distinctly different direction from their earlier stuff. The reggae influence was pretty much gone here and the overall sound is slicker in general. Many fans sight this as the band's weakest effort and at the least it is definitely a transitional album. It is one of the bands most somber efforts with politics taking the lead over relationships in the lyrics. Keyboards are also introduced on this album to varying degrees of success. More huge hits came from this one, "Spirits In The Material World", "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic", "Too Much Information" and several more tracks got significant AOR airplay. I almost have the opposite reaction to this album as I have the 3 that preceded it. It does not seem to have aged as well to me. While the first 3 have grown on me over the years, this one I seemed to like more when it first came out. Oh well, either way this is another essential Police album if you are a fan of the band.

Quality recordings with a hard plastic case.Reminds me of the day I first heard Invisible Sun.the 1980s were a turbulent time, like today.cd insert I displayed on truck window.

~ THE POLICE do it again! ~
A very well put together album by the group. I really like it and I think it is the best one they had made together. I never owned this one when it was originally released back in 1981 and the 2003 Digipak remasters are wonderful. The sound has never been better, to me anyway on CD. I am really happy to see many of these groups rerelease their albums this way. The whole package is great, liner notes, photos, the CD itself. If you are a fan of THE POLICE, I would recommend getting all their albums this way. They are not expensive, either. You can get a really good deal on here if you look hard enough. 1) SPIRITS IN THE MATERIAL WORLD 2) EVERY LITTLE THING SHE DOES IS MAGIC 3) INVISIBLE SUN 4) HUNGRY FOR YOU 5) DEMOLITION MAN 6) TOO MUCH INFORMATION 7) REHUMANIZE YOURSELF 8) ONE WORLD (not three) 9) OMEGAMAN 10) SECRET JOURNEY 11) DARKNESS

Still worth listening to
This album greatly expands the sound of the earlier Police recordings with the addition of Keyboards and Horns. It is also the beginning of the rising tensions within the band as Sting basically starts pushing the other members contributions to the back, which understandably causes some resentment and probably led to the breakup of the band. That being said, this is still a strong recording by the group, with a nice bit of pop with "every little thing" and the exploration of a more thematic approach to music with most of the rest of the tracks. The band plays strongly and in fine form here, and the music holds up well, even after thirty years, making this a recording still worth listening to.

The Police 12” Picture Disk
I’m a big fan of The Police (the band) & ‘Ghost In The Machine’ is probably my favourite album of theirs choosing from the bands huge 5 album catalogue! I’ve/I’d Pre-Ordered the upcoming ‘Synchronicity’ anniversary 12” Picture Disc vinyl with its rearranged originally intended track listing with the missing ‘Murder By Numbers’ track here on Amazon & I happened upon this ‘Ghost In The Machine’ 12” Picture Disc whilst browsing Amazon again with the track list how it was originally intended but with three additional tracks upon it including the fabulous ’I Burn For You’, ‘Once Upon A Daydream’ (which I’m sure was a Synchronicity B-Side & not a ‘Ghost’ sessions track, I believe the B-Sides from ‘Ghost’ were both A.Summers tracks ‘Someone To Talk To’ & ‘Shambelle’ which the latter is included here, anyway) I had to have it especially now that I’m getting back into vinyl, it arrived in great condition & sound wise it’s excellent & will sound even better when I upgrade my vinyl player! And considering what this is & that’s a 12” Vinyl Picture Disc of what’s arguably The Police’s best album with 3 added tracks it’s very respectfully priced & I’m very happy with this purchase & that’s what matters at the end of the day! If you’re a Vinyl record fan/collector & you’re a fan of the music produced by The Police you can’t really go wrong here & it’s worthy of a place in many people’s vinyl collections.
