I have been running it on some regular AA cells, that had been indicated as insufficient when put into my flash directly, just to get the full value from them. I've been doing so intensively for two days, not only are these batteries powering the flash, but the recycle time is a fraction of a second. Once I've used up my stock of regular alkaline cells I shall move on to the NiMH cells. I was concerned that it would be too heavy for my belt, but it isn't - it sits comfortably at the waist all day. If I want to put my camera down, then it's easy to unplug the pack at the socket on flash. Review: Probably overkill - I’ve tried it out - it works. So far so good. Only 4 stars because it is bulky, heavy, not a particularly ergonomic shape, the Velcro fasteners are a good idea but not really long enough to be truly functional.
