At Christmas I got most of the kids these for their stocking, but I ordered vegan 'sours' for her instead. I definitely would not give these to a vegan or vegetarian because of the gelatine and cochineal. I think she is okay with honey and beeswax as they are a bi product and not an actual bee! I believe shellac is also a bi product and not an actual insect.I agree with you that they are not suitable for vegans and vegetarians. Maybe contact the manufacturer? **Q: Why have these gotten so expensive? They used to be under £1 and now they're almost £23?!** A: Really do not know maybe it’s a bigger jar **Q: What is their expiry date?** A: It should be written on the packaging usually found at the bottom, or the right hand side at the back of them. **Q: Why is it labelled as vegetarian when it has shellac in the ingredients? Shellac is crushed beetles.** A: You are thinking of E120 or cochineal, Shellac is a resin secreted and left by the female lac bug on trees.
