Easy fill, clean water and no soaked messy dripping face!
I recently purchased the Lixit top fill water bottle for my small breed dog that drinks as if he was a horse, and I'm quite pleased with it. The stainless steel tube is substantial and easy to clean, ensuring fresh, clean water for my furry friend. The top-fill design is a lifesaver, as it eliminates the need to remove the entire bottle for refilling. While the no-drip valve is a great feature, I've noticed some minor leaking issues, especially when the bottle is full. Filling it about up only 2/3 seems to work well. However if you tighten the valve, the leaking issue is easily resolved. Overall, the Lixit top fill water bottle is a solid choice for small to large dogs. It's durable, easy to use, and keeps my pet hydrated.

Leaky, lazy manufacturing
This seemed like a good product out of the bag but about 20 seconds in it began where the spout meets the bottle. Once we disassembled it about 3 separate times and washed it, it finally resolved to leak from the ball bearing at the end instead.... It leaked a lot, enough to soak my puppy's ear and side of face while she napped in her crate. The lid is just sat on top and is excessively large to create a friction "seal", so if you're unlucky enough to grab it a bit too high, the whole thing will release from your command and spill its 30+oz of contents on the ground. I didn't expect much for $6 but man I expected a bit more at least. Only upside is puppy took to it easily so now I know I can buy a replacement and she'll figure it out + Amazon gave me a refund (this item isn't returnable, they make you talk to a rep to get a refund.). The connection to the crate is a giant pain in the ass to reposition, and inside the crate for most setups, and could readily be unscrewed (basic thumb screw clamp) by a curious puppy, easily tipping the water bottle over and out. Very lazily designed a manufactured, just pick a better option.

Great useful crate accessory
Great useful crate accessory! I have a 4 month old, 21 lbs puppy that chews plastic cups and thinks flipping over his ceramic water bowl is a fun game. I'd leave his water for overnight in the crate and wake to see all the water on him or him digging at it. It was extremely frustrating and annoying. Finally got this and it's amazingly useful. I do notice a considerable amount of water gone in the mornings. Con: Top cap doesn't seal tightly Noises at night Leaks if incorrectly used Pro: All day and NIGHT access to water Cap allows for large ice cubes to be added Flip cap allows partial refills Inside / outside installation Sturdy plastic bottle (44oz) At the moment its on the outside as my puppy is teething. I also have a metal food bowl underneath to catch the leaks the dog's licking causes. My dog presses his teeth against the metal ball while he licks so it's not a problem with the product but how he uses it... Highly recommend this. If you have a medium to larger dog then at least get the 32oz or 44oz, can't imagine using a smaller one.

Leak proof for the most part
First, I recommend the largest size because they are made differently from their smaller size bottles. The smaller size doesn't use the same leak proof technology as the bigger size does. Also the bigger size can be taken apart to clean the steel ball and rubber pieces. I have only had a little leakage when the ball gets stuck and only needs to be touched and it goes back into place. As others have mentioned, you may have to take apart when you first get the bottle and put it back together. 4 out of 6 that I ordered were originally put together backwards. Once reassembled they work great. One I had to carve down the little plastic notches/bumps on the screw cap to ensure a tight waterproof connection. I highly recommend these large bottles as they work great for small or larger pups. They mount on outside of crates and kennels so pups dont chew on them or knock them off. The larger bottles also have screw-on clamps that clamp on either sides of the bars and the nut tightens to hold them in place. The smaller bottles have a clip on metal spring that wraps around the bottle and allows the bottle to move and get knocked out of place and is also hard to clip on and especially unclip. This is even harder depending on the size/guage of the bars of your crate/kennel. The small bottles leaked and drained completely with no use by pups. This was just hanging them and filling with water. So don't buy the small ones even if you think you don't need the larger size. My litters of pups had no trouble using the larger ones. Cost of larger ones is negligible. I highly recommend the large Lixit bottles. Bonus, they fill from the top and don't have to be removed except to clean.

Leaky
The item had a leak on it. My doggy didn’t like it at all.

Worked great!
Used for my English Bulldog. Learning curve, but she figured it out pretty quickly!! Design is as described, super good quality and holds a good amount of water!

Doesn’t work
I bought two of these for my dogs. They are not worth the money. Both of them leak. I of course reviewed how to hang them, etc. I have a different brand of which I bought for my smaller dog and it works great. This product is useless. First night both drained out completely!!

Generally disappointed :(
There are things that I like about this product, but overall, I wouldn’t buy this item again and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this to friends, family, or anyone really. Pros: 1. super easy to set up and use. The flip cap opening on the lid is a nice touch as it makes filling the bottle WAY easier than having to unscrew and remove the entire nozzle as you have to do with other basic models of this kind of product. Flip it open, pour in the water, close the lid, done. 2. It’s so much quieter than ones we’ve used in the past. The ball inside the nozzle doesn’t make any loud metal on metal noises. It barely even taps! We used to be able to hear our pup any time he would drink from his previous water bottles/dispensers for his crate, even from other rooms of the house! This one is basically the opposite. Sometimes we don’t even know he’s drinking from it while we’re sitting in the same quiet room. Cons: 1. The bottle is a little smaller than I would have preferred. My pup loves drinking his water so we usually fill up this bottle once a day. Our previous bottles for his crate have held a lot more water and we could usually go 2-3 days without needing to fill again. 2. The lid on top will leak if you give it any opportunity to do so (ie water sloshing/splashing around inside the bottle, overfilling even by a tiny amount, etc.). Something about the design just doesn’t work well. We would prefer to be able to fill the reservoir up with more water, but any water that gets too close to where the removable lid slides over the top of the reservoir will inevitably find a way to leak/spill out. We have to leave at least an inch or two without water at the top of the bottle in order to make sure we don’t have to deal with dripping and leaking from that part of the product. 3. This is the biggest con for me and ultimately the reason why I wouldn’t purchase this product again: Leaks, leaks, leaks, and more leaks… FROM THE NOZZLE! And the leaking is excessive. We have to put a towel down inside his crate to deal with any overflow from the drip tray we also use. Thats how much this thing leaks. Even with a drip tray under the spout, it leaks so much that the water overflows from the drip tray and right onto his blankets and mat. The previous water dispensers that we have used for his crate we bought from our local pet supply store and they were great but the nozzle would start leaking after a few months of use. We were hoping that this bottle would eliminate any nozzle leaking problems, or at the very least we hoped it would last longer than the other ones we’ve had before the leaking started. But, to our disappointment, the leaking from the nozzle was almost immediate. And the amount that leaks out is significant (arguably more than the leaks we got from even our oldest and most “used” water bottle dispensers in the past). Overall, we ended up keeping it because we threw away all of our old ones before we realized the flaws of our new one. I’m sure we still could have returned it, but since it did the basic job of holding water and dispensing it when my pup starts drinking from it, we felt like we could deal with the leaking until we did some better research and find a better alternative.
