I happen to stumble on Start-X Remote Starters when looking at DIY car maintenance for my wife's minivan. I was impressed at how simple the installation was and did a Google search to confirm my car was supported. Sure my car is 9 years old and I debated if it was worth buying a remote starter. Comfort of getting into a cool car in the summer and a warm car in the winter was the deciding factor why I gave this a shot. I opted for the Settings Enabled version that costs a little more since it had notes that my 2016 Ford Fusion SE 2.5L was supported. I thought it included the hood pin but that was not provided. The remote start unit is pretty small but definitely sturdy. It comes with a single wire harness that makes the installation process really simple. It also comes with a pry tool for opening the driver side dash under the steering wheel to install the starter. A sticker is provided that needs to be installed under the hood to make anyone working on the car aware there is a remote start on the vehicle, especially considering it can be installed without the hood pin. I did search for videos to get a sense of how to pull the dashboard and the connector location prior to installation. The dashboard was fairly simple to pull on the door side but not so much on the center console side. That took maybe 5 minutes since I was being careful to not break the fastening tabs. Pulling the wire from behind the ODB connector took me about 10 minutes. I gather this wire hasn't moved since the car was assembled 9 years ago and the space to work with was nonexistent. Saying the space was tight is being very generous. After figuring out which hand to press the disconnect tab and the other hand to find the right position to get some sort of leverage to unseat the harness, there was the matter of maneuvering the connector to fully remove it so I could plug in the provided wire harness. Programming was fairly simple when using the provided instructions. Pressing the Lock-Unlock-Lock sequence on the remote works perfectly each time. The same sequence will stop the remote starter as well. I used only 1 zip tie to shorten the wire harness before closing up the dash (no need to go crazy to zip tie the unit down since its small and light). The remote starter showed up in the Settings Menu automatically where you can select the desired duration and climate setting. The unit costs $144 and the installation cost is $0. That is a great value for the money considering now I can get into a comfortable car no matter the weather, as long as I remember to use it. The fact that it works with the factory remote is fabulous. In a way I am kicking myself now because I could have done this years ago but I am also jaded against remote starters. Back in 2000 I installed a remote starter on a 1998 Ford Contour with my dad and that was pain to find the wires and splice them to get the remote starter to work and the door lock since I never got a remote when I bought the car used. I wasn't interested in paying an installer because the money I had was spent on the unit. Start-X has made this so simple that I will not only recommend it but keep this in mind with any cars I buy in the future that don't come with a remoter stater.

This was so easy to install and worked perfectly the 1st time - I have to admit I watched a YouTube installation video about 5 times, then kept pausing it as I did each step... This thing sat on my shelf for 45 days before I installed it because, at first glance, I was a little overwhelmed by the instructions... Now that it is cold out, I am loving it as I can warm up my car before getting in... I installed this in a 2018 F150 XLT - I don't know about any other vehicle, but it works excellently in mine, and I could not be happier!!! 10 Stars if I could!

I had this remote start on my 2018 ford f150 for about 4 years now and it has been awesome. Knock on wood, I’ve never had any issues with it and the installation was easy. The price is cheap compared to buying a factory one plus you can still use your factory remote which is awesome!! Definitely would recommend!!!

Install was simple, plug and play, no hassle at all.. utilizes your factory Key fob. functions perfectly. Install took maybe 10 minutes. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to add remote start to their F-150👍. Built well and very easy to install and operate!

Came in great packaging. Install was easy. Glad they give you extra zip ties just in case. So far so good, it’s been working flawlessly. Enjoying the warm truck on cold mornings. Be careful, I paid the extra $30 for settings enabled in dash. Doesn’t have it. It may work on yours but didn’t on mine. Tried googling and YouTube to make sure I was looking in the correct place. Just doesn’t have it. Other than that it’s doing what I mainly wanted.

I installed this in a 2018 Explorer with no trouble at all. The preprogrammed unit brought all the info needed up on the dash after install. The instructions were easy to follow. Quick, easy and good range what more do you want.

I've been a mechanic for 20 years. I remember installing remote starters years ago trying to tap into hidden wires. What a pain in the ass. This thing works as advertised! Less then 5 minutes to install and works greats. 10 out of 10. 6 stars. Will tell all my friends to buy. Incredible.

Antenna did not work, gave CEL and put truck into limp mode after a year
