This is a very quiet case with it's noise shield panels but after 27-months of operation, the power supply failed. All of the proper voltages were present but there was no "good-to-go" signal on pin 8. None of the electrolytic capacitors were bulging or venting so the failure most likely is due to failure of the monitoring circuit. With no 5 volt signal on pin 8, the motherboard then shuts down the CPU to protect it and the machine will not boot and you can not enter the BIOS.I selected the EA500-D as a logical replacement because of it's green characteristics, v2.3 compliance, and cabling that is compatible with my IP35 motherboard. My tower case is not fully loaded so going from a 550 watt supply to 500 watt is of no consequence. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ HTPC must have *by J***L on February 16, 2011* This power supply is perfect for any HTPC. For the last 3.5 years I have been using a noisy BFG 700w in my HTPC - total overkill. I upgraded my personal pc with a big AMD 6870 which required a bigger power supply. I figured I'd go with a quiet, green psu and swap my HTPC since I was not using 2/3 of the power available. WOW, what a difference. I can barely hear the psu when the house is quiet and never when I'm watching tv. The psu costs a little more than others with similar available watts, but the low dB is what sells it for me. Do yourself a favor and "buy the best and only cry once," a mantra I live my life by. ### ⭐ Not good for ATX platform. *by A***K on March 3, 2023* Not usable for ATX mother board. Returned.
