Gendarme by Gendarme Cologne 300ml

It's hard to believe, but this has been my go to cologne for decades. I don't like all the weird fragrances that people find attractive today, and the pretense and pricing of them are RIDICULOUS. Not to mention that if you should say you like one of these new fragrances you have to listen to the wearer brag about how expensive it is. Yuck! Gendarme is a fragrance that says "clean" and doesn't enter the room before you do. The 10oz. cologne bottle's label says it's crisp, distinct and elegant. This is also true. It's a fragrance for adults because you'll never smell it in a room full of teenage boys and there's no dreaded back-of-the-throat tickle from the scent. Even if you use too much, in an about an hour, it becomes a subtle scent that says, "this person has bathed and smells good from having done so." I call it a hugging cologne because you have to get that close to smell it. In the 80's or 90's (it's been around even longer) LL cool J (James Todd Smith) went on a crusade to promote it without, I believe, any compensation because he loved it so much. That may give you an idea of my age, but don't be deterred by that. The scent is dependable, wearable, ageless and timeless.

I have loved this favorite cologne since I was 25 ,and I am 66 now . I think the highest I ever paid $90 for the 10oz bottle … now it’s $190 !!!! Wow , if I only knew it would sky rocket like this I would have stock piled it . Love it , but not that much …. Time to find another one .

This is an exquisite fragrance. The only one my husband likes. And I love it too. Just the right balance of fresh and citric. Pity it is so pricey!!

I've used this cologne since the early 90's, and it's endured since...only problem is: it is getting harder and harder to find!!! Macy's used to carry it, and I purchased the regular bottles on amazon before, but when I saw this whopper of a bottle, I HAD to get it, and it saved me huge! Normally, the larger bottles would run about 60 dollars when they were available at Macy's, but this bottle more than DOUBLED the amount of cologne for only a few dollars more! This cologne is good for when you want to be subtle...to have the smell of being freshly showered when up close and personal, not advertising to the world that you are wearing it! It's had the same smell for years: soft, almost "soapy" fragrance, not like other colognes that gradually change over the years. 2 shots to the collar bones, one to the back shoulders, a little on your wrists and you're good to go!
