Wood is rather splintery but nothing serious. Got flustered with the instructions but if you manage to keep your head together it is pretty easy. Fit nicely in my room, was able to fit 8 pairs of shoes on the bottom rack, all of my seasonal clothes on the bar, and 4 potted plants on the top shelf. It adds a nice bohemian boutique vibe. Missing screws, ill-fitting shelves, etc. I returned it for a full refund and was sadly determined I'd have to find a different rack. I spent about 2 weeks comparing products online before picking this one, and the size/design is really perfect for my needs, so I was so sad to have to send it back!Almost as soon as I posted my return, the seller contacted me to ask about my specific quality control problems with the product and how to make it right. And they did! I ordered another rack, and this one had no issues like the first one did (I must have gotten a lemon)- my only complaint is the screwdriver that comes with the rack stripped trying to get the flat-head screws in the bar at the end. Not an issue to me, because I have a screwdriver, but if you don't it might be something to bug you!The seller is great- very friendly, fast, and helpful customer service. I'm so glad I gave this product another shot because it really does fit my needs perfectly and it looks beautiful to boot. It seems quite durable (granted I've only had it a day) but I've got my shoes on the bottom, storage basket on the middle shelf, a bunch of clothes, and folded towels/bedding on the top and nothing is bowing or seems strained at all.
