works ok! most of these amazon Zippos don't come with fuel so make sure to buy a can alongside the zippo if you want to use it out of box. other than that the bass makes for one of the better metals for a zippo case since it heats up about half as slow as a good old stainless-steel case, plus the brass cases are know to be the better choice all round when factoring toughness, hinge should last nice and long. (and even if it doesnt last, you always can send it up to the zippo repair people, just look up "It works or we fix it free"

Nice lighter. Evaporation of fuel is only thing keeping it from a 5* but is a common Zippo issue even with repacking etc.

This Zippo is smaller than it looks in the photos — a little over 2 inches (I added pictures with a measuring tape). Not a downside, just good to know before buying. It comes unfilled, so you’ll need to buy lighter fluid separately. I also added photos and a short video showing how to open and fill it. I bought it as an anniversary gift for my husband, and he absolutely loved it. He carries it around all the time, even though he doesn’t smoke. The tree engraving is beautiful and meaningful. Very happy with this purchase — 5 stars.

Good quality engraving, and classic Zippo quality

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Goooood ol reliable zippo Zippo quality: I got zippo as birthday present 20yrs ago and used it every day. It went through hell of beating and still works fine. This is not the same model that I used for 20yrs but I decided to retire the zippo I had and get new one, and I m pretty sure this one will work just fine for 20yrs or so.

I'm not a smoker but I have always envied those who light their cigarettes with a Zippo and I've always wanted one but never had a reason to buy... At long last however, my love of camping and hiking has provided sufficient justification for this purchase! Being a Zippo, there were literally hundreds of designs to choose from but in the end I opted for the Yggdrasil(ish) version because that appeals to me. Out of the box, this is a nice lighter! It has a reassuring well-made feel and heft and the lid flips open with that click that reminds me so much of my dad's lighter eons ago! The lid is not loose and sits nice and flush with the body of the lighter. The etching of the 'Tree of Life' is clear and nicely done and I like the brass antique finish. So far, the antique finish has held-up well but I use the lighter only occasionally which probably helps. The lighter ships dry, but that makes sense so no worries there. A doddle to fill (with the correct fluid) wait a minute or two and you're good to go. In use, the lighter lights reliably and usually on the first flick of the wheel. It's more or less wind-proof and I have used it on a few camping trips now with great satisfaction! One downside is that the lighter dries out between my trips (i reality over the course of about 3 weeks) but this should not be a problem for a regular user who will be topping-up more frequently. In short - I love this lighter! I think it looks cool, is well made and as a bonus, it makes me feel like a 'proper' woodsman (which I most definitely am not)! I think it will last forever; or until I lose it, whichever is the sooner... Very highly recommended (as a Zippo) but there are many other designs are available!
