The top part that contains the light bulb swivels all the way around, and the stick itself has a huge range of motion. The cord is really long, which makes it reach outlets easily. I would have given it 5 stars, but I had to take one off because the on/off button is illuminated, and remains illuminated as long as the lamp is plugged in. This is an awful feature because it is so bright that it disturbs my sleep. I remedied it by layering three, yes three, pieces of silver duct tape and cutting it into a circle, which I stuck on top of the button. It helps, and is not really noticeable because it blends well with the satin nickel coloring of the lamp. Amazingly, some light still escapes around the sides of the tape, but at least I can sleep in the same room with the lamp, lol.
