These types of invasive, strangling, suffocating vines need the Tryclopher chemical to do the trick. I mix this concentration with a dilution of water in a pro-spray bottle, cut the vines as the base and then just squirt some of this highly effective stuff into the cut ends, down into the roots. For old growth vines, I barely dilute it, to ensure effective death of the vine's extensive, insidious root system. It also does a great job with Poison Ivy and Virginia Creeper vines, using the same method. It's a good value for the money paid. The bottle really goes a LONG way. Review: I bought this for my husband’s grandpa, and he used about half the bottle before realizing he wasn’t applying it the right way. Me and my husband took over, followed the directions, and it worked great! It was super easy to use and covered a good amount of ground. The weeds were pretty high, but it still did the job without any problems. It’s definitely a great value for the money and very effective when used properly. I’d recommend it to anyone dealing with normal weed growth — just make sure to read the directions first! Amazon is selling multiple concentrations of this product all grouped together, and their product descriptions do not make this clear. The "Concentrate" seems to have 8.8% triclopyr, but the "ready to use" gallon and 1.3 gallon sizes are diluted 10 times from that amount...my 1 gallon bottle says 0.8% triclopyr, 99.2% other ingredients. Be careful which one you choose! I thought I was getting the 8.8% and so am sending it back. **Q: Has anyone tried this on english ivy?** A: I used high concentration of plain salt on 20 yr ivy that i was going to replace w black star gravel It took a LOT of mortons salt but it worked for not much money **Q: Wondering what the mix ratio (ounces per gallon) is required by the concentrate?** A: Add 4 fl. oz.(1/2 cup, 8tbsp) to 1 gallon of water to spray on brush. Brush undiluted to kill Kudzu, Poison Ivy, Poison Oak, Blackberries, and also stumps and root sprouts leaves. **Q: We have killed everything topside, but we have roots coming in to the basement, will this work if directly applied to those roots?** A: Go on Amazon and purchase "Bonide Stump and Vine Killer". It has an applicator to apply the product directly on freshly cut roots. Killed all my roots dead, right to the bottom.
