what is the difference between retin a and retinol?

Retinols and Retin A are both derivatives of vitamin A and excellent for aging. Retinoids which includes Retin A are prescription strength. Retinols are found in products that do not require a prescription and are much weaker in strength.

Is there tretinoin in this product?

No. Tretinoin is Retin A, which is the purest form of vitamin A. Retinols are less irritating than Tretinoin.

I'm currently using the 0.5 retinol. I'm assuming that the 1.0 is stronger-- why and when should I switch?

I was told that using the .5 for a long time is better than using the 1.0 for a short amount of time and a few weeks after you stop using the skin problems come back. I use the 1.0 nightly now (every other night at first) and after 2 weeks my skin was used to it. I do plan on long term use though. You should be able to switch now and be fine since you have been using the .5 for a while.
