I wouldn't say it 'taints' it though. It really depends what you want to use it for. If you want to take your time and having a few refills, then go for this. If you will drink it quickly, stick with the hot plate version (auto shut off after 20 mins). On weekends if I want to make a larger pot with my hot plate version, I pour some in to my own thermos to keep warm for later and drink the rest fresh from the glass carafe. Please note the opening of the thermos on this version is narrow and difficult to clean. **Q: Will this coffee make still work if i leave it on the on persition and have a seperate timer?** A: Yes. But even better to put it on a Smart Plug and then you can control it from your phone too. **Q: Can you only have the metal jug with the white model? Also how much coffe can you brew in mills?** A: You can also buy the KBG 741 in white metallic with a glass jug.
