I'm an IT consultant and keep one of these on my keychain at all times. Got my typical utilities and installers on there, plus has room to make smaller backups of end user data. Metal casing is a must - plastic casings and moving parts (slider-style drives) just break from the abuse of carrying in your pocket. Sandisk had a cruzer titanium long ago, but that disappeared and luckily Samsung came out with this. My first one (128GB BAR) just started to show signs of failing after about 3 years of use. The casing was getting a little bent in spots and it occasionally was difficult to insert in some laptops. The new ones I just got (256GB BAR Plus) are faster and I think the metal casing is just slightly thinner, as they have not been difficult to insert. I have not had any heat issues so far, and I did copy a lot of data to them when I was getting all my stuff transferred from my old one. Maybe a tiny bit warm at the most. Not sure what people did to get them to overheat, but shouldn't have that problem, at least on a newer computer. These are not designed to work from, nor are they designed for frequent writes - if you need a drive that stays plugged up all day and you work from it, that is a different product that costs more. Also, it might tend to get warm if you're using most of the free space. I reformatted mine down to 200GB, so they have some free space for wear leveling.

I've purchased the Samsung Bar Plus 3.1 USB Flash Drive 13 times between October 2018 and October 2024, including various capacities such as 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. The quality, reliability, and blazing fast performance of these flash drives have been consistently impressive. After four years of heavy use in countless machines, one of the 256GB flash drives stopped working on September 25, 2025. Fortunately, I had just made a backup copy, so I wasn't too worried. Samsung Support was amazing to work with; the representative provided a link to complete the RMA form and assured me that a UPS return label would arrive by email within 48 hours. I highly recommend these flash drives for their quality, durability, outstanding performance and excellent customer service. The attached screenshots from CrystalDiskMark 9.01 are test results of Default, Peak Performance, Real World Performance and Demo test profiles. I’ve also attached a picture of the Samsung flash drive along with the UGREEN USB to USB C Adapter and JSAUX USB C to USB Adapter. Both of these adapters are great!

This is the best of the best for 256GB - all other 256GB or larger usb flash drives that I have used have failed (except for SanDisk Ultra Fit, they are just slower than the sbar plus - I have several of these and they have not failed). I have no trouble running a full install of Fedora from this drive on multiple machines, and it is quite fast too! No complaints except maybe the price...

I purchased it in 2019, and it's dead now. It has a five-year warranty, and thus, now it is 2025. 6 years after purchase...They met their agreement...but I hoped it would last longer. From my eye, it looks like it should work, no damage to the parts. It served me pretty well for 5 years. I will miss it. I popped on hear to see how long the warranty was. I suppose I have nothing to Durability: 4.9 - Didn't last more than 5 years. Why did you pick this product vs others?: Samsung drives are normally great, I have a T5 and T7 drive and had a very, very small 256 one that I liked...not sure where it went, it's so small and cute. Connectivity: It was pretty fast USB 3.1 Data loss: Drive is dead, so the Data was lost after the warranty. Value for money: Good value, a replacement is 22ish on Prime Day but not repurchasing. Usb port: USB-A 3.1

It's exactly as advertised... if not more, to be honest. I get over 400MB/s read speeds and a little over 100MB/s write speeds. It's blazing fast. Pictures are of CrystalDiskMark using the default setting and Samsung Magician. Real world speeds are always over 400MB/s read and 100MB/s write. That would certainly differ if transferring 100MB of 1KB notepad files, for example, but that's to be expected with any kind of drive. It works fine with my router, too. I've used it to store and load games from and it feels like an SSD. This one gets warm after a long transfer of a couple hundred Gigabytes of data but does not throttle at all. I wouldn't consider it "hot" by any means. As far as what's advertised and what you get, it does what it says and a little more. It performs well and feels snappy. I do wish it had faster write speeds but I knew what I was getting when I chose it. It's a great value. This is not to put down any other popular, reliable brands by any means, but in my opinion, it's hard to beat Samsung in the memory department. Samsung makes extremely reliable and well performing hardware. I'm running Samsung MicroSD cards in my security cameras and a couple of dashcams. I'm running Samsung NVME drives in this PC and others. Even my RAM has Samsung memory lol. When possible, I always choose Samsung first and foremost for reliabilty where it matters.

You know how some USB drives are slow enough to make you question life choices? This isn't one of those. It’s fast. Like, embarrassingly fast. I plugged it in, and it was like "Oh, you need your files transferred? Done. No biggie." The thing is built like a tank. Seriously, I could probably use it to hammer nails into wood. But I won’t, because, you know, it’s a flash drive, not a DIY tool.
