Why Spend on the big brands
Big fan of Keen, discovered more by accident a few years back when I purchased some trail shoes that, after trying a lot of other brands were perfect and a fraction of the cost. My feet are wider than average and I was always experiencing numbness on the ball of my right foot after going for even short walks - Keen are perfect for wider feet in my experience. I'm not a professional walker, I like to go for walks 3/4 times a week and I am lucky to have easy access to some beautiful locations on my doorstep in Surrey, my average walk is about 4-6 miles and I'm not an adventurous trail runner I tend to use footpaths and trails off the beaten track and sometimes will just walk around streets and roads. I purchased a pair of LOWA Renegades a few years ago and at the time they were brilliant but a break from walking after an accident that left my eyesight damaged meant I stopped walking and wearing them, the inevitable happened and I gained weight, I started going out for walks at the beginning of the year and wore the LOWA's but they were no longer the comfortable boots they once were and after just a mile or so my right foot more than the left was totally numb and each step became more and more painful. So began the task of finding new boots to wear in the wetter/colder weather. I bought and returned Skechers and Merrell's both of which were expensive but no good for me. I was going to bite the bullet and go to Cotswold Outdoors and get my feet measured and buy boots but then I found these on Amazon at a discounted price of just £79.00 I took the plunge knowing how good my trail shoes have been and I have to say they are brilliant. I've worn them around the house and kept them on while working at home to get used to them, they are so comfortable and no numbness or other problems like rubbing or stiffness. I am yet to wear them on a walk but plan to later this week, they are very light, OK maybe not the most stylish of boots to look at but for me it's more about the comfort and the ability to wear them on the walks I do without any pain or discomfortbrhan looking good in them. They have the same waterproof tech that my trail shoes have and they have kept my feet very dry in some very challenging conditions so I have every confidence these boots will be just as good. For the money and when comparing to more expensive brands I really can't see how I can go wrong. Keen may not be the forerunner of outdoor footwear that you would consider when looking for quality outdoor footwear but they are very good and interestingly enough Cotswold Outdoors now stock and sell them so that tells me they are considered as a good brand if they sit with such footwear brands as Hoka, Salomon, Merrell and Berghaus then they must be doing something right.

Very waterproof lightweight reliable boots
Very comfortable, waterproof lightweight reliable boots ideal for spring summer autumn walking when not too muddy or over slippery rock. So good I've got 2 pairs of these boots.

Good boots! But after a year, waterproofing is terrible.
I've had these for a year. First the good. I really like the look of them, and they're really comfortable, from day 1. They feel pretty robust, and for the most part, they are pretty well made. I do a lot of walking, often on pavement, but at the weekends, more offroad. And they've survived pretty well - the souls still intact and no real issues with wear and tear elsewhere. Except for the waterproofing. This seems to be pretty common, so only knocking one star off, but after a year (possibly less - dry summer, so couldn't say), they're now just not great and let quite a bit of water in. As with all boots, walking through wet grass always seems to be the worst, but I get pretty wet feet quite quickly. As always, I bought new, but will continue to wear these for dry days until they wear out.

Like a glove
Just what I wanted. Researched for months before buying these. I walk mainly on the road and paths with about 30% gravel and grassland. Waterproof seems fine, but not tested much yet, the main thing is that they were comfortable from the box. Good grip too. Also look good.

Don't cross your legs
The boots are comfortable, good support and perfect for indoor security work.... but don't cross your legs. For some unknown reason they have exposed lace fasteners at the heel. When you cross your legs the front open fasteners clip onto the back laces, tying your feet together so frequently you'd think they were designed to do this.

By far the best boots I've ever bought.
Super wide toe box, almost zero drop (close to barefoot outsole), fantastic support, great materials, great looks, super comfortable insole, by far the best boots I've ever owned (worn daily for work and also for adventures etc.)
