I used disposable gloves underneath and I attached the anode to one glove and the cathode to the other in order to get the current to run from one glove to the other through the skin on my face as I touched my face with the fingertips of both hands. I used a high level of current so I could feel that it was working and then lowered it. I've also used the gloves more as intended, with one lead on the wrist, using microcurrent for skin rejuvenation of the hands. It does not give as dramatic, immediate results as a microcurrent facial. However, I think if I could ever get around to doing it consistently, it would have a positive effect on the skin on my hands.
