I didn't have high expectations with buying packaged coffee on Amazon, but this surprised me. I've tried the Ethiopian Sidamo Guji (light roast), the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe (medium roast) and the dark roast Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. The medium Yirgacheffe is great, extremely good coffee. The Ethiopian Sidamo Guji is not the best I've had from that region, but it is absolutely the best I've had in this price range, I've paid more than 50% more for roasts better than this. I didn't like the dark roast, but I don't really like any dark roast coffee I've tried, was just curious since I've never had a dark roast Ethiopian, didn't know that was a thing. I will say despite not liking the dark, it was roasted well, dark, but the beans weren't burnt or anything. This coffee has a great consistency. The beans have been fresh across multiple orders, great bloom (these beans are REALLY thirsty, they soak up a ton of water on bloom). I do french press with coarse grind, and the light and medium roasts do have the subtleties and complexities I'd expect from Ethiopian, hints of citrus, blueberry and chocolate with the Sidamo and the Yirgacheffe is a mellow everyday brew I enjoy. Some of the flavors in the Sidamo Guji are a bit muted, but that will vary from roast to roast and with brewing temperature and time. I'm more inclined to think I'm still working on the brew than that it's an issue with the beans, because a few times I've gotten them just right and it's been blissful. These were a pleasant surprise and I'm happy to recommend them and buy again. ============== Edit - September 2024 Okay, here goes amazon merging these products and reviews again. This portion of the review is for the Organic Rwanda, I bought a 2lbs bag. It's really tasty! Reminds me a bit of the Ethiopian Sidamo Guji beans, but the flavor of the Rwanda is less complex, with fewer flavor notes. and heavier on the citrus side. Tastes a slightly acidic, but it's smooth. It's a light cup, almost has a tea-like flavor and mouth feel though with more of a thicker malt mouth feel than something like ceylon or assam tea. I've been drinking a few mugs of it daily the last few days, and it's a very enjoyable brew.

UPDATED 1/13/2017 I have gone through several 2-lb bags of this coffee now, about a bag per month, and I am still thrilled with it. The coffee has been consistently fresh and tasty. Since my first accidental order (see below) a few months ago it has become my new regular coffee. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have to admit that I ordered this by mistake. I have been drinking this seller's Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, which I love. This showed up as a recommendation on sale for $18.95 for the 2 lb bag. I saw Ethiopian and clicked buy. When it arrived I was disappointed, but I am always open to trying something new so I gave it a try. I was very impressed. The flavor profile is so similar to Yirgacheffe - light, fruity, sweet - that I doubt I could tell them apart in a blind test. Considering the price difference this could be my new regular! This may be coffee aficionado heresy, but I will also admit, that I usually mix light, fruity coffees like this about 1:1 with Folgers 100% Colombian. That was my primary coffee for MANY years until I started branching out. I find it has a bright, clean, rich coffee flavor. I am not sure if I can explain it, but to me some light, aromatic coffees are delicious but lack a certain "foundation". It is like a pie that is so sweet you cannot really taste the delicious cherry filling. The 100% Colombian, while delicious by itself, has a neutral enough flavor that it does not mask the flavor of the lighter coffee; it just gives it more body.

I wrote a bad review originally giving it two stars but I was brewing it too weak. It is sad because it doesn't really hold a candle to a good Ehtiopian Sidamo light roast. My main gripe is the roast is way too dark and the flavor kind of off. But brewed stronger the flavor does come through and I will be able to drink through the bag okay. I just would call it medium roast maybe even the darker side of medium, it is not a bright natural process ethiopian sidamo that I crave but these are way more expensive. As a medium roast with some acidic fruity notes its not that bad. I might try the brand again but would chose a different coffee that was more of a medium or dark roast.

I think the roast looks really good, the colors are a little inconsistent, but honestly for the price you can’t beat it. It tastes sweet and smooth, it smells fresh and fruity, and the bag was sealed up good, not sure why there’s so many bad reviews, I wanted to leave this review because of all the hate I was seeing. People are so weird and picky, a coffee habit is not cheap and can easily run you $1000 a year or more, so for this price I’ll definitely reorder.
