I really like them for their appearance although I am buying the same stairs for the second time, the previous ones wore out after over three years but nothing lasts forever. They hold the stairs very well.

Grain of salt: it hasn't even been 24 hours, so time may change my mind. That said, I haven't been compelled to review a product so favorably in a long while. My elderly dog was having trouble maneuvering the wooden steps in our new house since we moved in, and when she took a tumble from top to bottom (she's ok - we had her checked over for injuries), we knew we had to do something fast. I ordered these, worried over the cost and quality, worried that they'd slip all over and kill us all, worried that they would provide enough traction even if they didn't slip, I even bought rug tape just in case.... all of that was needless. We got them last night and I stayed up late carefully removing the protective film and placing them on the steps. Guys, those things aren't going anywhere. I tried to budge them, and they wouldn't budge. They look nice, too, which was a bonus, although red personally isn't my taste (I hated brown more). My husband wanted this style, and I wanted my dog to be safe. If there was one thing that could be better about this, it would be that these would be longer, since my dog insists on walking down side by side, so one of us isn't on the mats, but I'll just train her to go single file.

After less than 3 months after installing these runners on our new staircase, every single runner has lost it's piling along the "bullnose" of the runner. This is about the worst quality textile product I've ever purchased and, for the price I paid for two shipments of this item I'd expect it to last at least a few years. I've contacted the seller and will update this review once I hear back from their customer service representative, but these runners shipped directly from CHINA, so I'm not very hopeful that either the seller or Amazon will remedy this situation. UPDATE! After weeks of emails from the vendor in which we were accused of digging our feet or not stepping on the carpet runners correctly, the Chinese company finally agreed to replace the two sets of runners which we were very unhappy with. We installed the new runners and I'm very sad to report that the replacements have turned out to be of just as poor quality as the first set. Every single runner has lost it's piling along the bullnose of the steps, without exception. This is definitely a manufacturing defect and I imaging that it probably has to do with the piling becoming loose from the adhesive during the process in which the metal plate is bent for the bullnose. I found the vendor very difficult to work with after they kept insinuating that the defect was our fault. This was not an inexpensive purchase and I strongly discourage the purchase of this company's products. Poor product and sorry customer service.

Excellent. I used double sided carpet tape to make sure no accidents happen :- "XFasten Double Sided Carpet Tape, 2-Inch x 30 Yards" - good tape - sold at Amazon. I even removed and reinstalled few carpet pieces to realign them - Tape left no mark on my wood stairs. While installing these carpet pieces - align the front portion of the carpet piece over the bull nose first. Also to line up all the pieces perfectly, I used small piece of masking tape as a marker for the carpet edge (which is easy to remove later)

After 2 falls down wood stairs I knew I had to purchase something to make the stairs safer, and these absolutely do the job. Worth every penny and look amazing!!! Get carpet tape with them.

I'm writing this review 4years after I installed it. It stayed well very well. Not a single one moved. The only issue is that the bull nose in the front creates an uncomfortable feeling. Otherwise, it is a good buy. Remains clean for the 4 years of heavy use.

They look nice and add a touch of elegance. The backing is not adhesive but non skid. The clear cover over the backs was difficult for me to remove, but my wife had more patience and did it quickly. I was worried about the non adhesive backing and the pad slipping when walked on, causing a fall. We have teens and tweens who like to run up and down the stairs. So far, that hasn't been a problem. Sometimes one slips out a little bit and we just push it back in place. You could always add some double sided carpet tape to secure them if you wanted to. The carpet itself is thinner that what I expected, but I guess thicker carpet would be more of a trip hazard.

Buy your own adhesive as others have suggested. Overall, was really simple to install.

Beautiful looking excellent product.But we ordered 30" and they came in at 29". There was no 29" option in the selection, you also require a lot of patients to remove the protective plastic on the back. My stairs have a 5/8' 1/4 round edge on them and these mats are more for a 90 deg. or square edge, they still fit and you may hear a slight squeak as you step on them until they finally seat themselves. Also beware of the hidden cost such as import fees. All in all great Product.
