The ideal review for your basic circuit analysis course More than 40 million students have trusted Schaumโs Outlines for their expert knowledge and helpful solved problems. Written by renowned experts in their respective fields, Schaumโs Outlines cover everything from math to science, nursing to language. The main feature for all these books is the solved problems. Step-by-step, authors walk readers through coming up with solutions to exercises in their topic of choice. 700 solved problems Outline format supplies a concise guide to the standard college course in basic circuits Clear, concise explanations of all electric circuits concepts Appropriate for the following courses: Basic Circuit Analysis, Electrical Circuits, Electrical Engineering Circuit Analysis, Introduction to Circuit Analysis, AC & DC Circuits Supports and supplements the bestselling textbooks in circuits Easily understood review of basic circuit analysis Supports all the major textbooks for basic circuit analysis courses Review: It is a great cheat sheet to look up key information instead of ... - This book is exactly what I was looking for! It goes over all the basics such as Ohm's Law, KVL, and KCL to more complex concepts such as sinusoidal voltage and current to transformers. It is a great cheat sheet to look up key information instead of hunting down old notes or digging through the index of a text book. The explanations are extremely clear and much better than what my professor can even offer. O'Malley has a great way of dumbing down complex material. Here's what lies in the table of contents: 1. Basic Concepts 2. Resistance 3. Series and Parallel DC Circuits 4. DC Circuit Analysis 5. DC Equivalent Circuits, Network Theorems, and Bridge Circuits 6. Operational-Amplifier Circuits 7. PSPICE DC Circuit Analysis 8. Capacitors and Capacitance 9. Inductors, Inductance, and PSPICE Transient Analysis 10. Sinusoidal Alternating Voltage and Current 11. Complex Algebra and Phasors 12. Basic AC Circuit Analysis, Impedance, and Admittance 13. Mesh, Loop, Nodal, and PSPICE analyses of AC Circuits 14. AC Equivalent Circuits, Network Theorems, and Bridge Circuits 15. Power in AC Circuits 16. Transformers 17. Three-Phase Circuits Review: A good book - Seems to be what it says. You will need to get a book too if you want more in-depth studying.

Schaum's Outline of Basic Circuit Analysis, Second Edition in paperback- February 17, 2011
I purchased this book to continue to learn to work with written layouts of circuits and practice my ability to analyze these circuits on paper. I wanted to review and study basic circuits as I am not an engineer or a student at this time. This outline analysis is right for my needs as the concepts are kept simple and direct. This book provides me with a basic starting review of the fundamentals of identification and measurement and progresses into applied use of these basics.. It is probably one of the better books I've used for review or have studied from, on any subject. I combines a thorough basic presentation with examples that are explained well enough for the dullest tack to comprehend, well almost. This book provides the student with study and working examples in some of the chapters and it is presented in the format that allows you to progress as you gain knowledge. Concerning the subject matter of electrical circuits, in most instances, the lessons and practice problems are well laid out. Easy at first, then it begins to get more complicated. If you are not ready to proceed, the subject matter, will tell you that more study and thought is needed. I found this book easy to follow along the study line and testing of knowledge and is a good self study of this subject. I like it.

Great for practicing
I am a sophomore electrical engineering student and I purchased this book, Schaum's Basic electricity, and Schaum's electric circuit in addition to the required textbook. On a percent scale I've used this book 80% of the time and the class textbook 20% of the time. Examples are solved with detail and the chapters correspond exactly with the chronology of my intro to electrical circuits class. It is an excellent source of extra practice problems and it is relatively cheap. Do not hesitate to get it; and start reading it ahead of time.

Good info for engineering student
Lots of good info. They have tons of problems worked out step by step. It has helped me with my electrical engineering coarses greatly.

The Most Advanced Workbook I Have Come Across
I'm very torn on how I feel about this book. The chapters are a fantastic resource, and for the most part they go about as deep as you need into that specific area of circuit analysis. My problem, is the solved and supplementary problems, which are what attracted me to buy this book in the first place. They are merciless, and unsuited to someone that has just learned the intended materials. A slower buildup in the difficulty of the problems of a given section would do wonders for the reader's confidence and understanding.

perfect
4th year electrical engineering student. I advertise for several tutoring services and circuits has been a difficult class to teach with so many different books used by different colleges within the city. I now strictly use this book in tutoring sessions along with the class text the student is required to use. This book has MANY examples with a very simple vocabulary and can be used independently of another textbook.

Perfect
This book will be used time after time again. It covers everything one will need to know about circuit analysis and has many worked out problems that are easy to follow.

Content is OK. Lot's and lots of typos.
I wanted a review of circuit theory many years after studying it at uni. This was an fine review that needs some re-editing. This came to a head in chapter 10, Sinusoidal Alternating Currents and Voltages. Most of the problems involved sinusoids of the form Sin( omega t + phi). Unfortunately, the typesetter constantly mixes up the Greek letter omega with the Greek letter pi. Since omega = 2 pi/ T, the period, this is very confusing. I contacted McGraw Hill who responded that I had contacted the wrong department. I gave up trying at that point. Another book would probably have been a better choice.

Just what I expected
This was a book I needed and will help me on this examination and through the graduation. Good insight and a great option for a first approach.

Homework help for an undergrad.
Bought to help a Cambridge first-year Engineering student who is struggling with her course. Like all Schaum titles it proceeds in easy stages and has a good index. The paper is rather flimsy but adequate. Good value for money.

Works well as an accompaniment but not so well independently
I hesitated to rate this 3 stars - it is well written and straightforward - but it lacks in certain areas, so here are my concerns. First of all, this is really an exercise book, not a stand-alone text book. It is really intended to be an accompaniment to a good theory textbook. The "lessons" are short and lack any real detail or practical use. It dives into progressively more difficult problems, but doesn't explain all the solutions (despite claiming "fully solved problems"). You'll be left scratching your head on the more challenging ones without outside assistance. It is truly a supplementary text meant to hammer home lessons received in class or under tutorship but it is not a good solution for independent study. If you are using it as part of a course, then it will help you excel and is worthy of 4-5 stars; but if you are using it independently, you will have challenges, and that is why I can't give it more than 3 stars.
