Thanks for your time.** A: We change both at the same time. That makes sense to us. **Q: About how many gallons does each filter use before replacement?** A: About 528 gallons according to the manual. Once you replace them, you hold the reset button, as the instructions say, to reset the counter. The other person that answered here needs to learn to read. **Q: Does this machine work for well water?** A: Yes. I've used it through 3 sets of filters with well water. It works fine, no real issues as long as the well water is generally drinkable to begin with, it removes pretty much all the flavors etc. If the water isn't potable to start with, you would need another filter from what I can tell. **Q: What do i do if the uv light turns on? the cf and ro lights are not turning; just the uv light. what does this mean?** A: I’d call the customer service number.
