They were s little hard to close but should loosen up with normal usage. I wear a big beard as well and they work well at trimming all the loose hairs sticking out. The scissors are small but the finger holes were good size and fit well as I have above average size hands. The case and small comb were a nice touch as well. He decided he wanted to grow out his beard this month, and went and got it done professionally. To upkeep though, we realized we didn't have any little scissors. He eventually stole some from my little nailcare set, but the fingerholes were a little small. Also, the combs we had were too big for his face. When I ordered these, he was in a sour mood, but when they came, he was so happy. He spend the rest of the day using the little comb to brush his beard. He said it felt nice. The finger holes are nice, the scissors are good quality, and they work well.
