The kit comes with an instruction card with QR code to watch a demo video so you’re fully prepared before starting. Follow the steps as outlined and you will be fine. The only thing i would add is that I had to recaulk because I scraped off the old gunk to have a clean surface to start my project. I caulked before adding my topcoat and would suggest doing it afterwards. Because I used a silicone based caulk (to protect against water, mold etc. especially around the faucet and sink) it doesn’t take the topcoat well. It beads up on top of the silicone, I simply just did not think about it before caulking. I would say caulk as your final step to be on the safe side. I used the pickled oak color, wanted to go for the butcher block look with my countertops. The stain has some gray undertones, I didn’t mind but something to consider for your overall look and finish. The stain and wood grain tool does add depth and gives the look and feel of real wood. My kitchen looks brand new for less than $200! Review: Looks like real wood - I bought the pickled oak for reference and used all of the materials except the darker stain. I used a walnut stain on top of this for a more warmer color. Even without the stain I used separate from this kit, this kit is absolutely beautiful. It really looks like wood. For some of the comments that had difficulty, I feel its user error. It is a slow, step by step process to put a light coat at each step then let it dry. The directions were easy to understand and I simply can’t believe it turned out this well. Try it out!

The only thing I'd say is u should prime it and sand the edges I didn't sand as well and the paint didn't take to it at all..other theh thar I love the look.

its not 16oz its 2 8oz in a 16oz kit
I am sending this back. this product is over $70 for a 16oz table top kit and it's misleading the customer. the 16oz kit consists of 2 8oz containers (TINY AMOUNT) and not 2 16oz containers. this is not adequate to cover a tabletop any bigger than 36 inches diameter as you need 2 coats of the primer before you add the stain. A word to Retique it. us furniture artist will not buy your product if you are not fair in quantity size and mislead the buyer with true size. you are charging a huge amount for a tester at most. get a grip
