Q: What size drill bits can it sharpen up to

as wide as the clamp will let you which I found to be 15/16. with a little modification to tha clamp you could prob. go to 1 inch hope this helps

Q: can i use it on the left side on my bench grinder?

Yes it is bi-lateral but truly I have not had any success with consistent grinds on this. I had to buy the Drill Doctor.

Q: will this sharpen drill bits with a hex attached, similar to the Milwaukee Shockwave?

No. This sharpening attachment is designed for bits that have a uniform diameter. If you look closely you will see that the bit rests in a V-shaped holder which sets the correct angle. Any attachment to bit would "cock" the bit and make it impossible to get a correct angle.

Q: Can this be used with a belt sander?

Sure. It's all in how you mount it. A sanding belt will sharpen steel bits.
