Qualifier, I’ve only worn this with a light duty headlamp. So the falling off is partially due to that. 70% the shallow hat, 30% the headlamp. The hat is shallow. I have a normal sized head. If anything, some caps sit too low on my head. This is the first time I’ve experienced the opposite. It reminds me of a yarmulke. The adjustable band is elastic and Velcro with no cinch. So you can only get it so tight, and even then, it flexes. A non flexible band would likey solve this problem. When I wear this hat as tight as comfortably possible, it will often slip right off my head if I lean over too much or for too long. Yes, I have a light headlamp on. But I didn’t have issues with a ball cap. I bought this because to prevent forehead pressure from the headlamp as well as protect my head while working on my car. It’s fine if you’re mostly upright, but if you lean over to look under something, expect it to slide right off your head.

The back strap is of a bad material. Its elastic and not a snap back. This will be ruin in a couple of washes or daily use. Not recomanded.

The helmet works well. It is small enough to not get in the way and tough enough to handle the occasional bump of your head. It would be nice if it had an option for a strap to help keep it on your head.
