This machine has been really good to me. I used a Jean needle to make a jelly roll rug and it turned out well. It was nice and flat, no waves. In 4 years, I have only broken one needle. I always do research and go slow when trying heavier fabrics. **Q: I am fairly new at sewing and want to buy the best machine that will not be too complicated to use. Please help** A: If you have the time and patience to READ and try everything out one at a time, yes you will find this a very good investment. It cuts the thread when you are finished, it will thread the machine and the LED screen tells you when the needle is unthreaded and many other features. It has many (600) built in stitches and many different styles of buttonholes. I have been sewing for 60+ years and I love it, but then many of the features are not new to me. That is why I say time to read and patience to try all the different feet and stitches. If you just want to sit down and sew, this is not the machine for you. **Q: Does this machine include a seam finisher in it's features? Maybe similiar to serging?** A: Th 9960 has several stitces that sew a seam and overcast the edge at the same time. To complete the look of a serged seam you would need to attach the side-cutter.
