Does the black come in 8.5W as it's greyed out?

My husband bought this shoe in a wide width. He wears a EEEE width. the gray might mean it's sold out.

How is the traction on wet surfaces or graded trails? Is this shoe suitable for mild "off sidewalk" hikes?

Yes, I have a small farm in Florida and I use these all the time. They are good for little hikes and are fine on wet surfaces. Be aware, though, these are far from hiking shoes. These are casual wear everyday shoes but I love the price point for the quality and fit you get. I buy a few pair every three years or so. A few years ago, I did find a Hilfiger hiker/rain boot on sale for $19. Just keep on the lookout.

EVA is an abbreviation for ethylene vinyl acetate. I didn't know what EVA stood for until I did a Google search. I suggest you do the same, so you can read as much (or as little ) as you care to. Again, from my experience, these soles are very soft and comfortable, but they wear out quickly.
