It is 10 amps with 530 air watts. Converting amps to HP would make it about 1.3HP. It has a lot of suction. I am happy with my purchase!

Can anyone compare the suction of this vacuum to a shop-vac? I have a 5hp vac and I hope this is at least comparable. Thanks!

I have installed in my garage strictly for cleaning the car, it does that very good. it has a lot of suction, I would say its comparable to a shop-vac but wouldn't recommend picking up anything to big. I go through and pic up anything to big that is the difference I can see between this vac and a shop vac.
