For mildew scents, you may need to pre-clean your cushions, however you can help prevent mildew from forming by spraying the spray, from a distance of 6 to 8 inches, until the surface is thoroughly wet. The cushion must remain wet for 5 minutes, and you can repeat the treatment every 2 weeks. **Q: Can this be used on carpet? If so, does it need to soak 5min as fabric?** A: I would check your carpet in an inconspicuous area. The directions say to dampen/wet the fabric completely and let dry to sanitize.
