I saw a report of other cocoas containing heavy metals and wonder how this one compares.** A: Because there are not clear or cited answers below, here is one that at least provides more context on the issue and concenr (but not really an ANSWER). Citing ConsumerLab (a paid service that does testing on multiple consumer food products).. "It's true that we found most cocoa powders to have high concentrations of cadmium -- around 1 to 1.5 mcg per gram -- which is much higher than the World Health Organization limit of 0.3 mcg per gram. The dark chocolate bars we tested had concentrations which were about 1/10th the amount found in cocoa. The main reason why there is less cadmium per gram in dark chocolate than cocoa powder, is that cadmium is in the cocoa solids, which, when dried, is cocoa powder." That being said, I am also researching the levels in cocoa powder and other things like spices before I purchase now. Mainly because my young child has no choice in what he consumes. I have yet to find this information on Anthony's (which is our go to brand), so I'll probably choose another brand for now. Although Anthony's is great in all other aspects! I would love to have this information shared. PS - You may say its negligible, but in my opinion, if I were to ignore toxicity across all the products that I buy then I'd be agreeing to the risk that all these microtoxicities wouldn't stack over time.
