I barely got the boots broke in when the outer jacket on one of the original laces shredded. Then the lace on the other boot did the same thing. I guess the original laces were more for show and weren't meant to be pulled very tight. The OrthoStep laces just feel stronger and I suspect that they will be able to handle me pulling on them. The only exception to this was that the length of the aglets was slightly smaller than those of the replaced laces, making it slightly more difficult to pass the laces through the channels on top of the shoe tongues that are intended for this purpose.The texture of the lace material is perfect and far superior to that of the replaced laces that came with the shoes originally.
