Pachmayr Guardian grip is a revolutionary and innovative design made for popular concealed carry revolvers. What makes the guard I an grip so unique is its patented finger extension. With the simple press of a button, the spring loaded finger extension drops down out of the grip, converting a two finger compact grip into a controllable three finger grip. This is the first grip which allows the concealment of a compact grip with the shooting control of a full size grip. Review: Easy install and works effortlessly - Just installed these, very easy and work as expected. I drove out the pin from the bottom of the frame with barely any effort, then installed the grip. It is as comfortable as the original grip when the pinky extension is not deployed but makes a big difference when it is deployed. I actually deploys pretty intuitively as soon as you grip the gun. I replaced the wood Pachmayr grips I had on the gun that extended below the frame for the pinky finger, but were also wider and more hand-filling. Iโm sure Iโll tell the difference at the range and the wood ones were very comfortable but I wonโt really miss the wider grips. And these make it much easier to conceal carry. Review: Fantastic grip for everyday carry of a J frame - Really like this grip. Itโs not as solid and rubbery as the original but it is lightweight very easy to slip in and out of the waistband holster and you squeeze the grip hard with a J frame anyway to make sure itโs steady and as soon as you do the pinky extension, pops out for stability.

Fall apart within days
The grips were amazing when they arrived and fit my handgun perfectly but they fell off within a few days of me putting them on. They inner screw piece completely broke loose and I canโt get the screw to stay in, reached out the manufacturer and never heard back with that kind of customer service definitely would not recommend you purchase

A nice upgrade from factory grips, that maintains the small form factor
I remember seeing these announced in 2017, and I was skeptical that they would work well. When the price was low enough to justify trying them, I ordered one and installed it. My first impression, like many others, was that the finish wasn't as nice as other aftermarket options. I think it's a very slight step down from the factory grips, but not that much. The material is a bit harder and rougher, but that's understandable in order to have a solid mounting area for the extension mechanism. The installation was easy enough - some have expressed worry about having to remove a roll pin, but that pin only serves to align the factory grips. The grips also leave the butt of the frame exposed, which is a benefit since the serial number is located there on many J-frames. The downside to this is that it's another area that dirt, dust, pocket fuzz, etc., can build up. Time will tell if this develops into a concern. As far as actual ergonomics - the grip when extended is an improvement over the standard factory grip, and does keep the small form factor while giving your little finger a place to grip. The button to extend the grip is easy to press while drawing the pistol, so much so that I almost can't grip it without engaging it. Overall - I think this is a good upgrade from the factory grip, but only if you're concerned about maintaining the small form factor. However, if size is not a concern, I would look for a more comfortable grip that has the little finger extension built in, with a bit more cushion.

This does not fit the Model 36 38. Special. It is too small

Great product
Purchased for my S&W model 36 that Icarry daily. My little finger always slipped off the bottom of the grip. This grip when the button is applied and extension comes out fits perfect. Just wish they were rubberized and not plastic. I will figure something out to make them more comfortable.

Good Idea - BUT
The drop down/pop-out finger groove is a really good idea. But very lacking in a finished product. The material is hard plastic, which in and of itself is fine, but the finish let's just say it is Not finished. The exterior is very, very rough with a specific bite against your hand - and that is only dry firing or just handling it. The real kicker - you have to either do some serious modifications on this grip, but drilling or cutting away material at the base in order to get the factory roll pin to fit. Or, you totally remove the roll pin. I am never a fan of altering the factory process for something like getting a factory grip to fit, much less having to do a modification on the grip in order that it fits what it is sold to fit. I gave the 2nd star because the idea is really good. IF, they ever do a proper finish on the outside and modify the inside for a correct fit, then I would buy and use this grip.

Wanted to like it, but...
in the end, the fit and finish aren't worth the price. The edges of the grip were uneven and didn't sit flush with each other, with enough of a gap to pinch. I was expecting better quality from Pachmayr, and was looking forward to the extension feature but that too didn't work right. With a slight press of the button, it would extend no problem but would not retract cleanly or reliably. It sucked sending them back because I was really looking forward to these. Back to the stock grips I go.
