I am a recreational (15 - 25 mile rides with a more senior group) rider -- and have been riding both a hybrid and a road bike depending on terrain. I have wanted a more portable solution for trips where bike rack security and hassles are a concern -- and this is the ticket.Components are a step up from most folding bikes -- and it is priced right. The larger crank with 8 speeds makes for a good blend. I'll know more when I get a bike computer installed -- but think that the 12+ mph pace for group rides should be quite easy. Hill climbing should be OK, while gears are not as low as my hybrid -- the light weight will be an offset. For more casual touristy stuff -- perfect! Riding is a treat -- between acceleration, maneuverability and a mostly upright posture.Build quality is very good. It should be -- initial list price on this was $599. Criticisms are few - not quite as small a fold as some others; only a special seat-post rack works and needs to come off for a fold unless you keep the seat / post / rack together and separate from the bike. I plan to get by with a seat bag and small frame bag -- and 90% of the time that's enough. Tires, a place where money is well-spent -- are Kenda's -- a future upgrade opportunity. Also, fenders are an extra. The brand name carry bag is pricey -- see CampingWorld for a more economical fix.It looks like they have changed the frame and some components for 2012. The list price dropped -- so some caution advised. However the quality still looks to be good on the new one. (The Amazon model & others still available on-line, appear to be a 2011 -- see the difference in the "triangle" for the rear wheel.) The only thing that needed assembly was the Handle Bars and front wheel. I managed to screw that up due to poor directions so I took it to a professional.Now that it's put together correctly, the Bike is a 'dream'. The only thing I had to change was the seat for better comfort. Other than that, it fits in the trunk of my BMW 1 series with no problem. I actually 'look' forward to riding it, and I'm not even a 'Bike Guy'.Lightweight, smooth and great handling. The 8 speeds are real handy, and it rides like a full size Bike.
