Review: Good knives for the money - For the money these are good knives. I give it 5 stars based on the quality for the money. Pretty sharp out of the box and a comfortable handle although I find it a little on the small side but for me it's not a big issue. If you have very large hands you may want to look at something else. Not the best quality steel and it requires frequent sharpening but it's on par with everything else in it's price range. However, it does sharpen very easily and I would recommend getting the KAI 3 stage sharpener to keep these really sharp.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I know everything has it as an “abundance of caution” these days, but why does this knife have a cancer warning?**
A: I have a couple of Kai Pro knives and don’t remember seeing that warning. It’s probably needed in California where anything with plastic composites (the handle). One thing, though, the steel used in this knife doesn’t hold an edge for very long. You could get something better at that price.

**Q: Country of manufacture?**
A: Kai is the parent company of several high end knife producers such as Shun and Kershaw. The Kai Pro is made however in China. For the money, it's not bad. It takes an edge but doesn't hold it. The steel they use is for low end cutlery.

**Q: Is this flexible?**
A: Please note,  this item is rigid.  We do have a flexible version that will be available very soon

**Q: Another bit of phony bs; mentioning japan over and over re the metal, the design, the company history. made in china?**
A: AUS6 steel is a low end stainless. These knives are made in China. However, Kai owns Shun. I have a couple and they are easy to sharpen but don't hold the edge for long. They're worth the $29 apiece I paid for them.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great knife for for a great price.

First off, this is not a Henkel, Wustof, or Shun quality knife. That said, it is an exceptional knife especially for the price. This is made by the same company that does make Shun. I would consider this blade on par with a Forshner or Dexter Russell. The hammered pattern looks nice. The handle feels good in hand. The blade is very sharp & sturdy. I have been using it daily for 2 weeks in a professional kitchen. After two weeks of daily use, I had to finally run it across a steel to hone it. I feel it holds an edge very well. While it is not as refined as a more expensive knife such as a Shun or Wustof, it is a great inexpensive everyday banger, and if I lose it or drop it, no big deal.
