One Phoenix summer down ...
[Written 2025Mar25] I want to update my review with how impressed I continue to be with this unit. Anyone can look up Phoenix summer weather data for 2023 and (especially) 2024 to see how brutal things were. My office was never above 75 degrees, even with multiple computers running and family sitting at them. I've got it running as I write this because our high today will reach 99 or 100. My wife says she's freezing in here. There's no debate. When this unit goes, I will purchase another C&H unit. -=*=-~-=*=-~-=*=-~-=*=-~-=*=-~-=*=-~-=*=-~-=*=-~-=*=-~-=*=-~-=*=-~-=*=-~-=*=-~-=*=-~-=*=-~-=*=-~ [Written 2022Oct19] ... six more to go (under the warranty) -- so far, so good. This unit performed like a champ. Very quiet, both inside and out. Lots of cold air. I replaced a 12-year-old Fujitsu Halcyon. Over the last three years it began leaking some coolant oil from the connectors and my A/C guys had to keep topping off the coolant. This unit is for my home office (11' X 15-1/2') on the second story, containing five desktop computers. Usually only two are running most of the day, although it's not uncommon for four to be on at the same time, along with three people present. 2022 wasn't a crazy-heat summer like 2020 (which may have worn out my Fujitsu) but still offered a slew of 110-plus degree days. I set the unit to 72 degrees and the fan speed to high -- meaning it never turns off until I manually do so before going to bed. The C&H unit didn't skip a beat. My A/C guys had never heard of Cooper & Hunter but commented that it looked like a solid piece of equipment, and they are curious to know how it worked. I'll let them know next spring when they come to tune up my A/C systems. If I had to say so today, I would definitely buy another C&H unit. The price is right -- hundreds less than a Fujitsu. It actually cost more for the guys to remove the Fujitsu and install the C&H, than the C&H unit cost itself! (2022 was a bad year to hire contractors -- my guys were booked five weeks out.)

Nice unit, not so easy to install without tools and experience
I bought this to add to the bedroom. The instructions were very thorough with lots of installation hints which was nice since I had never installed one by myself before. A few minor issues such as the wall layout for my model was wrong so I had to figure out where to drill the hole myself. The through the wall hole size that was shown was also a good 3/4" too big, but that helped when installing it later since it did not quite line up right. All the components seem high quality and durable, made in china of course. Be sure to use the special refrigerant lubricant/sealer, RT201B Nylog Gasket/Thread Sealant available on Amazon, on the flange connections when installing the copper tubing, it really does help prevent leaks which are the biggest issue with these units. That is not mentioned in the instructions BTW. Once installed, the unit is super quiet both inside and outside, works fast and seems efficient. The heat function is great, can't wait to try it this winter. Be aware that unless an HVAC contractor installs it, there is no warranty. You will need some special tools such as a calibrated digital torque wrench to the tighten the connections properly, a vacuum pump to clear the lines and possibly some copper pipe flange tools if you need to change the length. Overall it is a somewhat challenging do-it-yourself project unless you have some hvac experience and tools handy. I would recommend buy the plastic covers for the lines as shown in the picture, gives a cleaner and more secure finish. Of course the next one would be easy.........

Quiet and efficient....
This mini split has been a great addition to our home. We installed it to take some of the load off our whole-house HVAC system, and itโs already helping balance comfort while saving on the electric bill. The unit itself runs smoothly and has been working exactly as expected. One important note: the disclaimer that this is not a DIY mini split is very true. I normally handle projects myself, but there are aspects of this install I would have really struggled with. Thankfully, I have family in the HVAC business who came out and did a professional installation, which made all the difference. The install turned out very nice, and the machine is running great so far. I will update this review if anything changes!

2 years and running great
I purchased an 18000 BTU Cooper & Hunter 2 years ago. I did loads of research prior to my purchase and settled on this unit. Against the manufacturers instructions and with no previous HVAC experience I installed the unit myself. With a cost of about $400 in required tools (and lots of youtube) I was able to install it with no problems. This saved me approximately $1000 for professional installation in my area. For the last 2 years it has worked flawlessly. Fantastic A/C in the summer and comfy heat in the NY winters. After my experience with this unit I am looking to buy another for my upstairs and now I have all the tools and knowhow necessary to install it without any further investment. This is a great unit and a doable home DIY project if you invest the time.
