As for organic, the meaning of "organic" used in regards to fertilizers and soil is not the same as with food. With food, "certified organic" means it was grown according to clearly specified rules. With fertilizers and soil, no such certification is involved. It means that the contents are, or once were, living organisms, as opposed to things like metals or plastics and lab created chemicals. So "OMRI" is what you're looking for if you are going to use a soil, fertilizer, or amendment with plants intended to produce food you would want to be able to certify as organic. **Q: Is this water soluble and can it be added to Compost tea** A: It will not completely dissolve in water but the nutrients will leach from the kelp into the water and it makes a nutritious and dependable compost tea. **Q: What is the shelf life I'd like to buy in bulk but don't want to waste it.** A: I have mine for a year and worked great this spring like the first day I used. I think it will be okay if it is properly closed and keeping inside of a house. **Q: Does this have the same mineral profile as Sea-90 or completely different?** A: Different. What I find nice about this product compared to others is the wonderful smell, it seems fresh to me and smells like, well... kelp! Like the ocean in a way. That's good in my book. I did not find this true of some of the other guys. Kelp has proven a fantastic amendment to my soil beds, as well as soaked, strained, and sprayed as a foliar feeding. The other brand that I was fond of was Dr. Earth, but I prefer this product to that because of the perceived freshness factor and it looks to be all kelp, and less filler (that's my suspicion, though I CAN'T confirm this) The packaging is plain jayne, and knowing what ratios for application doesn't hurt, though they give you suggestions.
