When placed i mover a toilet the back doesn’t really work so we just left it off. My family member is very tall and this worked great for a post posterior hip replacement healing period (the height is adjustable and works for a tall person). The padded seat and splash guard made all the difference for our use! A little more complicated to put together than others (and we were missing a couple of non-essential- I hope) pieces - but still not hard to put together (all pieces are well labeled and easily identified) and very sturdy.
