My grandson wants to grow some Venus Flytraps - why? - so got your kit, a tiny greenhouse style terrarium and a kit with pots and seeds. The wee greenhouse looks great with all the layers in - we had to substitute different soil, but otherwise so much fun stuff to fill it with. Now all we need is for the plants to grow. If they don't, I'm going to try something else but the kit seems pretty adaptable. One thing though - it might be good to label the bags of different layers for thickos like me? I put the wee stones on as the bottom layer, got as far as the charcoal....and then had to scoop everything out when I found the intended bottom layer, the clay pebbles. I.e. could it be used for a closed terrarium?** A: I don't see why not. I have used an old fish bowl for mine which raises a different problem of soil volume for a curved space. A closed terrarium is essentially an enclosed living environment which retains its own water and nutrients, with just occasional additions needed. This kit contains everything you would need to make that happen. **Q: How soon after delivery do the cacti need to be planted? So will this last until Christmas if purchased now!?
