There isn't really much that hasn't already been said a thousand times about this gem of a film. It really is fantastic from beginning to end. The film is basically about a driver (Gosling) who gets mixed up in a dangerous situation. He is dragged into this situation because he seems to have fallen in love with Irene (Mulligan) and therefore wants to keep her and her child safe. This leads to Gosling having to carry out a job. However, certain complications arise and the story really begins to take off. There are many scenes in this film that are silent, yet they are so beautifully shot by Refn that they almost appear to be images taken straight from a canvas painting. Be warned that there is actually very little driving in this film, despite the fact that it is about a stunt driver. It is very much plot based and a rather simple plot at that. There are also scenes of what some may consider to be gratuitous violence. I however felt that the scenes of violence stressed the lengths people will go to when trying to gain or protect certain things. Throughout the film I was also blown away by the soundtrack. It really flows well with the film and I also own a copy of it. The Blu-Ray transfer is of great quality and the sound seemd good to me. My hearing is rather poor so I would have had issues if the sound had not been spot on. Overall I would certainly recommend this film and it would certainly be in my top five films of 2011. It has a fantastic cast and Refn directed the film perfectly. It really is a modern piece of art on screen. I'm beyond shocked that Gosling and Refn weren't even nominated for an Oscar as both deserved at least a nomination.

Drive ist ein grandioses Film-Noir-Movie, im Look der achtziger Jahre konzipiertes, stilistisches Meisterwerk, wie man es in den letzten Jahren kaum zu sehen bekommen hat. Drive ist sowohl leise als auch laut, brutal und gefühlvoll, vor allem aber cool. Im Vordergrund steht ein rätselhafter junger Mann, der Driver, von dem der Film nichts persönliches preisgibt außer der Tatsache, daß er ein außergewöhnlich begabter, bis ans Herz cooler Fahrer ist, der sein Können als Fluchtwagenfahrer bei Raubüberfällen vermarktet. Bereits die Anfangssequenz des Films belegt, wie man Verfolgungsszenen, die ja in unzähligen Actionstreifen bis zum Abwinken dargestellt werden, auch anders zelebrieren kann, ganz ohne quietschende, durchdrehende Reifen und Produktion von Massen an Schrott. Erst als sich der wortkarge, distanzierte Mann in die junge Mutter Irene verliebt, die unbeteiligt in den Reigen brutaler und sich exzessiv steigernder Verbrechen involviert und bedroht wird,zeigt er Emotionen, die sich bei ihm neben subtil reduzierten Gesten und Blicken auch in Form unerwarteter, eruptiver und kompromissloser Gewalt darstellen. Der ungemein begabte dänische Regisseur Nicolas Refn steigert die unterschwellige Spannung mit jeder Szene, ja fast mit jeder Geste, jedem Satz bis hin zu einem atmosphärisch - implosiven Finale, wie man es in dieser völlig unkonventio- nellen Form, die sich von allem löst, was Hollywood bisher zu bieten hatte, selten gesehen hat. Jede noch so spärliche Szene ist perfekt komponiert, Ryan Gosling holt aus seiner eher unidimensional konzipierten Rolle mit einfachsten Mitteln alles heraus und zieht die Blicke der Zuschauer gebannt auf die Regungen seiner Gesichtsmuskulatur. Seine Darstellung ist ebenso eine grandiose Bewerbung für den Academy Award [OSKAR]***, als auch die unkonventionelle,gerade deshalb so geniale Regiearbeit von Nicolas Winding Refn,dem es mit seiner ersten US - Produktion gelingt, die Zuschauer 90 Minuten und darüber hinaus in einem hochemotionellen, allerdings auch gewaltgeprägten Geschehen einzufangen. Der Film erhält von mir das Prädikat ,Gesamtkunstwerk mit Kultcharakter` *** Leider wurde der Film bei den OSCAR - Nominierungen übergangen..... [ 25.01.2012 ]

Ti tcho qué bon moment j'ai passé

Lo principal que hay que destacar con esta edición, además de la gran calidad de video y audio, es que la imagen está completa a diferencia de la edición nacional (en México) donde cortaron (o "cropearon") la imagen para encaje en el "widescreen" convencional (lo cual me parece un insulto al trabajo que le dieron a la foto y color de la película)... sin contar que no trae extras... que decir también que no trae tantos extras esta edición de importación -pero trae un pequeño detrás de cámaras algo ilustrativo que ya es bastante en comparación- y tampoco cuenta con doblaje (por si tienen la duda). Con respecto al envío llego en buenas condiciones y bastante rápido
