Waste Maid 10-US-WM-158-3B Garbage Disposal Anti-Jam Stainless Steel Food Waste Grinding System, 1/2 HP Standard, Black

My old Garbage disposal was falling I had to push start it, and it was getting dangerous and very unrelievable! So, I went shopping on Amason and found this one, a Waste Maid and I was a little worried about its size and power! I'm getting older and it's not so easy to lay under the sink and take the old one out and then put in the new one, so I did a lot of research and this Waste Made I thought was going to be too weak to grind stuff up, but I decided to try it! I am very glad I Did!!! It was very easy to install, and it was all set up with a power cord I just had to plug it in! It's fairly quiet and that night I made dinner and vegies and tossed a pretty big load in this new Waiste Maid and to my surprise it ground up everything I could put in it! I am very Happy with it, and it's been grinding up waste for over a year and have had no issues or problems, still working great and no leaks!!! Very happy with Waste Maid will buy again!!! I switched to the Waste Maid 10-US-WM-158-3B after suffering through a Badger garbage disposal that was, frankly, absolute trash — weak, loud, clog-prone, and about as useful as a metal bucket taped to the drain. This Waste Maid, on the other hand, feels like I finally upgraded from a stone-age grinder to an actual engineered machine 😄. The 1/2 HP motor with high RPM torque actually grinds food instead of politely nudging it around. Veggie scraps, pasta leftovers, apple peels, coffee grounds — everything disappears like I summoned a tiny black hole under the sink 😆. No jams, no choking, no sad groaning noises like the Badger used to make every time I fed it anything thicker than a wet napkin. Stainless-steel grinding components = no rust flakes, no wobbling, no screaming vibrations. It’s surprisingly smooth and quieter than expected (not silent, but nowhere near the Badger’s “angry lawnmower in a metal box” energy). Continuous feed is convenient — you keep it running and toss scraps in as you go. Fits easily under the sink and doesn’t hog the cabinet space. Anti-odor and anti-microbial features definitely help. My kitchen no longer smells like the Badger’s weekly decomposition festival. Everything stays clean, fresh, and not embarrassing when guests walk by the sink 🙃. Installation was straightforward, nothing weird or overly complicated. Standard connections, normal tools, done. In short: The Badger was garbage. This Waste Maid actually does the job. Strong motor, stainless internals, no jams, less noise, no stink. Would buy again without hesitation 😎 Highly recommended.

I purchased this disposal to replace the one I had that burned out. Almost a year now and still going strong. Runs fairly quiet with no issues. It took me just 15 minutes to install under my sink. Great for the price. The power cord is good quality. I had no issues with leaking or jamming.

Easy to install, took less than 30 minutes all in. GD is quieter than the one it replaced, but that said, I would not exactly call it "quiet". Seems to work well--can't speak to the longevity since I just installed it. Appears about as well made as other more expensive disposers. My only issue was the GD was packaged on top of the plumbers putty that came with it. As can be expected, the plumbers putty container was squeezed/ crushed and the top was off. Glad it was in a plastic bag or would have been a real mess. Whomever is packaging items for shipment, this is an issue as it's the third product purchased from amazon in the last week that arrived poorly packaged in a manner that makes no sense.

Installed this on a cast iron sink, which is thicker than most, so this should install on any sink. I would suggest using plumbers putty instead of the rubber gasket supplied for the drain flange. This will eliminate any possibility of leaking. Took me about an hour to install because the connection of the disposal to the flange is slightly different than I have seen before. Directions were OK, but took a little studying to be sure I was doing it correctly. Would probably take me about 20 minutes to install if I had to do another one. It is really that easy. All of my former units were hard wired. This has a plug, so I just added a female socket to my Romex. In about 5 minutes, it was plugged in. You can get one of these from any hardware store or big box. With respect to the few people that said their plumber had trouble or could not install this unit...I would call the Mario Brothers, as they probably have better training and could install this while they were jumping over turtles and grabing coins. One other observation that some people may care about that is not clear from the picture above: the sink flange is bright, shiny metal, not the brushed, dull metal look I have found on most disposals. If this does not meet your decor, I believe you can buy a brushed metal flange, but check that out before you buy this model. What I like about this unit: 1) Small. Takes up about one half of the space of my former unit. Largely because of the permanent magnet. 2) Uses very little electricity. Hooked it up to a Kill-A-Watt meter, and it read 70 watts while running. 3) Quiet. I asked my wife to listen to how quiet this is. She said turn it on. I said it IS on! Seriously, it is that quiet while running. I tested it with a decibel meter at a distance from the sink to my ears, and it registered 60-65 decibels! For those of you who are not familiar with the scale, this is about the loudness of a normal conversation. From 10 feet away the decibel reading dropped to about 40 Dbs. You would have a hard time telling it was running with normal background noise. It sometimes does make a louder clicking sound when turned on, but only for a fraction of a second. Now, that decibel level is without any food being ground. It is about 5 Dbs higher while grinding depending what you put into it. 4) As far as grinding power, it appears as good or better than the 3/4 HP I replaced. We compost, so we put very little food waste down a disposal, largely out of concern for the environment and our sewer lines. But I tested it with a chicken leg bone, and it was gone in about 10 seconds. 5) Stainless steel interior components should help it to last a long time. So unless you grind a lot food waste, this unit should be more than you would need at a very reasonable price.

It was easy to install! The disposal works great, and it came with a sink stopper to keep the water in the sink. It was well worth the money!

his garbage disposal was very easy to install — everything fit perfectly, and it took much less time than I expected. Once it’s running, it works almost silently. It grinds food quickly and efficiently, and overall the performance is excellent. The only small downside is that water doesn’t drain very fast through the thick rubber splash guard. It’s not a big issue, just something to keep in mind. Other than that, the unit works great and is extremely convenient to use.

It was easy for my plumber to install. It’s quiet! It works well.

Wasn't sure about this on but after 1.5 years in I would say a good product. Haven't had any issues but I also don't abuse it with bones and items that belong in the trash.

For any women out there nervous to install a garburator, this was very easy. This garburator was the same model I had previously, however the connection was totally different so I did have to figure out how to get the old one off. The installation instructions are straight forward and I never had a problem installing it at all. No leaks and it works great! The unit is quieter than my previous one, so that’s an added bonus!
