The first button turns it on and gives you 6 or 7 lighting options. The second bottn makes it rotate when you hold on to the botton for a couple of seconds. We tried on the ocean themed one and loved, loved, loved it!!! It comes with 4 other thems (star, planet, constellation, and birthday). It's a great product for less than $20.
