Brass can be connected to copper, brass, plastic, aluminum, and welded steel. It has ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) seat and seal, stainless steel spring, spring-loaded poppet, and female National Pipe Taper (NPT) connections on both ends. Female NPT threads connect to male threaded pipes, creating a tighter seal than straight threads. The cracking pressure is 2 pounds per square inch (psi), and the maximum pressure rating is 200 psi.Check valves have two ports and restrict the flow of fluids and other loose materials through a pipe or passageway to one direction. Flow enters through one port and exits through the other, closing when flow reverses or stops. Two common types of check valves are ball cone valves and swing check valves. That valve began to fail within the last 6 months along with the well point, the pump, and pressure tank. As of today all four items have now been replaced within the last 3 weeks, along with every fitting and connector from the well point to the pump to the tank. So I guess you could say the water system in my house is now completely new with the exception of the water heater which should be bursting and spewing water all over the floor any day now. The Merrill valve was marked "Made in Taiwan" this one "China". I give it 5 stars because it appears to be the same exact valve and from what I gather 12 years of service from any component in a hard water well system is remarkable in this day in age. The casting is good, threads are cut nicely and threaded easily and sealed well, but only after finding quality stainless steel 2" connectors. Don't even try to use steel ones from the Big Box stores. JUNK !! Won't work. And forget about plastic check valves !! LOL What a joke there !! That pretty much goes for all the plastic threaded fittings these days. The Chinese just can't seem to figure out how to cut threads decently. The poppet valve operates smoothly and holds pressure up to 85 PSI for sure. That was all I to put to it. It says 200 PSI. If it holds that much then good for it. I don't really care being I only need it to hold just over 60 PSI. Vacuum is what I am more concerned with in a well application and I don't have any way of bench testing for vacuum, so I will have to hope it holds. If it gives me any trouble I will update my review. ### ⭐ Don't buy. *by B***N on September 11, 2016* I have used this check valve on about 40-50 jet pumps. The valve has failed on over 10 units.The pump as set to run at 30 to 50 PSI. This should never have happened. The problem is the nuton the works loose and fails off, poor quality control. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A quality product, works well at a a great price. *by L***Z on April 22, 2018* This is a quality product, very well made. Installed on a 2hp sprinkler system that pumps from a canal about 35ft. from the pump.
