Yes! It is very simple to remove the case. I take it off fairly often to charge with my Apple Watch charger. No tool necessary, just open the lid, hold onto the AirPods charging case and pull lightly.

Is the chime function come with the case?

The chime is built in to the Airpod charging base. The case facilitates ability to hear the sound.

What do you guys think of the lazy? Being plastic, I'm worried about it wearing down with repeated use.

Mitch, i have had this piece now for around 3 months and use it all day every day for work. the latch is holding up great. then you close it, there is a bit of tension on the waterproof seal that keeps the latch tight.
