It took a few tries to get the motion right but I hacked through a root at least as thick as my wrist in a few minutes. Smaller roots snap easily. It's curved to help dig and is surprisingly strong for prying. The sheath has no way to let dirt escape is my only complaint. But it's heavy duty fire hose like material. Definitely a keeper

I have the full sized shovel that is like a spade and love it. So when I saw this hand trowel I knew I had to get it. The root slayer big or small is the best tools ever. I love how it is well balanced, sharp and cuts the roots of plants(weeds) easily. Less stress on your arms and cuts work time. Productive!

I wish I had taken some pictures of this thing in action. I use it for metal detecting and it's awesome! When it says root slayer, they ain't lyin. It took a few tries to get the motion right but I hacked through a root at least as thick as my wrist in a few minutes. Smaller roots snap easily. It's curved to help dig and is surprisingly strong for prying. The sheath has no way to let dirt escape is my only complaint. But it's heavy duty fire hose like material. Definitely a keeper
