This is an excellent book for a complete beginner to programming....and really wants to learn java.......The book is full of interesting images that keep you engaged in reading and I never felt bored while reading this book(The problem which I felt with some other books like "for the dummies series",which doesn't have a lot of pictures).Everything is written to the point and explanied completely with Q/Ans format so that the concepts can be clear and the person understands everything.Problems start when the book is read by a person who has some programming experience in C,C++ and python as there is a lot of spoonfeeding in the book and overly elaborated for a experienced person.But I still give it a full 5 out of 5 as it is clearly written as this is not a reference book but is a learning book for a complete beginner.....So it proves it by its content.I recommend it to anyone who wants to be good java programmer and it is a pretty good starting book for anybody.

Guys if you are from C background and don’t know C++ ie u don’t know what are objects n classes then first buy a c++ book ( this book won’t help ) Also even after learning C++ ( which i do ) still i find some problem’s in understanding the concepts 100% like this book won’t tell much about the syntax of creating a object step by step and other things like Arrays. They just appear on the text n are not well introduced ( the syntax )This Book is highly recommended for the people who know a little bit java, and reading this book will make their concepts very clear. But for beginners its difficult without the help of google !

This is one of the most revolutionary book I have ever come across...It not just focuses on plain text reading but instead the writers have used animation and picturisation to make it easier for brain to understand.The first few pages doesn't teach Java it instead teaches about Metacognition (which is how brain processes information and perceives and remembers it.) In simple words you can say it teaches how to learn and when it comes to JAVA i bet wouldnt find a better book and series to start with.

It's the best book to learn Java and basic programming for a beginner. Each and every chapter will prove very useful in Java programming as well as in other languages. Concepts are explained very well although I'd recommend calmly reading it rather than rushing to end the book. If you're a beginner, don't think just buy it!

This is my first book in "Head First" series and I am loving it. The teaching approach taken by this book is remarkable and thought provoking. Many times I read a book and a question come to my mind which is not explained in the book but with this book it was kind of spooky, the moment I had a question/doubt in my mind there would appear an answer within next few pages.This book is a must read for beginners as well as seasoned programmers who are new to Java or looking to clear concepts.Kudos to authors for coming up with such a brilliant way of teaching :)

I was looking for this book all over and it was around 800 rs everywhere.But I found a used book and bought it almost in half price.I verified and accepted the book, it was very in nice condition except few notes written in some pages using pen and pencil which fine. A must have book for JAVA beginner who is looking to have a strong fundamental knowledge on Java.
