The magnets are good. There is matte finish on back side which adds a little grip and also the Apple logo is visible..😅 (if that's one of your prioritiy). It's magnetic and opening the front cover wakes the iPad from sleep and vice versa. You can keep the Apple pencil in its original position for charging and it won't be an issue with this cover.
