A durable and cushioned shoe designed for a moderate-paced walker. Review: Poorly Sewed - I have bought two pairs of these and seams have come unsewn on both pair. Other than the use of sub par threads where the leather uppers are sewn, they are decent shoes. I will not buy them again. Review: Medium width seems tighter than my old New Balance walking sneakers - Had an old pair of New Balance walking sneakers (size 11, medium width) that fit like slippers right out of the box, so I tried for the same with the 577. I ordered same size (11) and width (medium) but product felt a bit tight on my feet. Thought they would loosen by wearing, but never did. So, I tried again going a half size bigger (11.5) and still width medium. Felt a little better but still snug in width. Wearing did not help again. So I foolishly have 2 pairs of NB sneakers that both hurt my feet. Also, both pairs make loud squeaking noise from uppers when walking and that never went away either until I rubbed the leather tongue and laces with wax paper. My disappointment is that the exact same sizing for the new shoes did not match up with my old New Balance. I did find the fit I was hoping for by trying on a pair of NB 409 at a local store. With these (the NB 409's), the size and fit matched up with what I had gotten in my older original NB. Not sure why the NB 577's feel tighter than the NB 409's, but for me they were.

Comfortable
Fits comfortably; good arch support. Replaces same model two years old. One negative: I had to reorder because the first pair had a loud squeak from the middle of the uppers. A very good walking shoe; I did not buy it for its looks.

Great shoes
These are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn.
