Auntie Anne's At-Home Baking Kit, 1.99-Pound

If you don't have an Auntie Anne's close to you - this is the product for you! The kit is easy to use - the directions are well written and easy to follow. The finished product may not have looked like one from the store but it sure tasted like it. If you can turn on an oven you can make these pretzels. The kit comes with either salt or sugar/cinnamon - make both. The kit makes 10 pretzels (large) or you can make them smaller. Go for it - you'll be surprised and they will taste great.

These are delicious and lots of fun to make with the kids. You can make regular pretzel shapes or whatever you like, my kids love making the letter of their names. The directions state to use warm water to activate the yeast, but I was surprised at how hot it needs to be. I made several batches that didn't rise before I used hotter water. Now I use a thermometer to make it just right - if it is too cool it will not activate the yeast.

I'm a huge pretzel addict and will always pick up several when I'm at the mall. For someone like me who doesn't cook very often, they're a bit of a pain to make and unless you have a large family (or are having a party), you'll end up with more pretzels than you can eat, since they really taste the best just when they come out of the oven. The pretzels came out great though (especially the cinnamon batch) - mine were a bit drier (although probably healthier) than what I normally get from Auntie Anne's.One suggestion might be to split the ingredients up into smaller packages (especially the yeast), so it would be easier to make smaller portions. (Next time, I'll have to try the other reviewer's advice about freezing half of the dough.)

Stickiest substance on the planet I'm pretty sure. While they tasted fine, they were an absolute nightmare to make. Highly recommended not buying this product.

then go to the nearest store/kiosk and buy them. This home baking kit will definitely make pretzels but its no where near the same taste. Giving it 3 stars because it works and makes decent pretzels but missing the classic auntie anne's flavor. I wouldn't expect a home run but at least get me in the ball park...

Dough was very easy to work with. The kids made pretzel, letter. and animal shaped pretzels. We made some with salt and some with the cinnamon/sugar. It was a fun, easy and delicious afternoon snack. We baked them all and froze those we didn't eat. We microwave them for a quick, warm snack that tastes just as good as those we ate the day we baked them.

Was disappointed in the size. I paid $10 dollars for a very small box and my family and I were upset because it wasn't enough for us. However, the little we had were very delicious.

Another reviewer was right, making these is no small task but the reward is great!!! I'm not a baker by any means. The last time I kneaded dough was probably with mom in the kitchen as a child. I followed the directions and everything went just fine. I would recommend having a kitchen thermometer that measures between 100-200 degrees. The water for the yeast should be about 110-115 degrees (exact temperature not mentioned in directions). You should also have some parchment paper on hand, the dough doesn't stick much to it. I baked the pretzels on parchment paper (on a pan) rather than just on a sprayed pan. Anyway, the kit includes salt and cinnamon sugar. I wish I had made more cinnamon sugar ones...wow! What a treat! The pretzels turned out exactly as the pretzels you would buy at the Auntie Annie's pretzel places in the mall. Woo-hoo! Love them :)
